What's the difference between the Garmin Epix and Fenix watch? They both look really similar and I'm not sure how they're different.

I believe the only difference is the display. Fenix has a MIP display. Epix has an AMOLED display.

MIP displays have better battery life, but are noticeably harder to read in most conditions outside of very bright sunlight.

Epic battery life is still very good and the screen is a huge upgrade, imo.

Rumor mill is that a fenix 8 / updated Epix will be unveiled in September. Just fysa. Would check out dcrainmaker for all the detail you could want on both.

EPIX has AMOLED which is brighter , and takes more battery useage so it has slightly lower batterly life
FENIX same capabilites, dimmer screen, longer battery.

I bought an EPIX and actually returned it for a ForeRunner 965.

The 965 has all the functions of the FENIX and EPIX, the AMOLED screen, but was also significantly lighter.

You can usually find a good deal through you insurance portal. I know Blue Cross has up to 50% off Garmins from their heart rate monitor store depending on model.

Display is on the only difference. I have the Fenix 7. I will do the Epix the next time I upgrade.

My battery will last well over a week without charging, (it says over 20 days but I've never even come close to that without charging) and I don't need that. I'd rather have the bright screen. Right now, I just charge it when I'm in the shower and that's enough to keep it charged.

I'm an old man now (50+), so I love, love the flashlight feature. Both have it, but it is by far my favorite thing for middle of the night bathroom trips. Also comes in handy when I'm working on projects and just need a little light.

Interesting. My Fenix 5 thats nearly 8 years old still make it about 18 days with daily use. But starting to think about upgrading but they cost like $300 more than they used to it.

The new ones have a lot of additional metrics. Kind of overload. Every morning, I get a "morning report." It has a sleep score from 1 -100 with breakdown of REM, deep, light, awake sleep. Also has heart rate variability, training readiness and other metrics.

Another feature I like is I have a Spotify playlist. When I plug it in, it uploads it to my watch over wifi. It's always there unless you change it. You can have bluetooth music without having to carry your phone around.

I went to Hawaii for a week without charging and it said I had two weeks left when I got back.

What do the Epix and Fenix have above the Forerunner? Durability, I think. Anything else?

I like my old Forerunner, but might want to upgrade at some point. But not sure what I'm missing! ha

Battery life is much better for the Fenix.
