As far as recurrent UTIs, it is generally considered atypical for men to develop UTIs, even more so when having recurrent UTIs. When men are developing recurrent UTIs, my first thought is prostatic issues leading to urinary retention which leads to a breeding ground for bacterial proliferation. Generally I recommend these patients to see a urologist. There are other causes, but by far the most common reason will be prostatic hypertrophy.
For recurrent UTIs in women, this is more common. If a post menopausal woman, the standard treatment for prevention is vaginal estrogen.
