Just got Resound rechargeable hearing aids this week. So far, I like them and hearing things that I had lost. Just getting use to something in my ears. Please tell me it gets better. Fortunately my insurance pays 80% of the cost.

It gets better. I suppose. I don't have them.

my 14 yo developed hearing loss around 1st grade and wears high quality aids. He certainly experiences hearing fatigue, issues picking out sound directions and word recognition in loud environments, and other issues folks without hearing aids don't. He plays football/basketball and hearing on the field mid play is often hard for him.

I imagine the hearing in his left ear is significantly worse than age related loss, but his right ear is probably comparable fwiw.

It gets better. I've had mine six years. Widex Allure is the brand. Sound quality is realistic as far as I can tell. Was amazed to hear things I didn't realize I couldn't hear. Birds specifically. I had no idea I wasn't hearing them.

I can adjust them for the environment I'm in using an app on my phone. Works really well.

I need them bad, but I hate them. All I want to do is rip them out after about an hour. I hated contacts too. I don't wear mine like I should and it ticks off the wife, but I effin hate them.

I've also figured out, not hearing stuff, kind of a blessing.

Hearing aids frequently take quite a bit of adjustment to get used to. Having a good Audiologist with a lot of patient experience certainly helps. My two Audiologists both feel that the Phonak Infinio Sphere I-90 is the best product on the market.

My wife (in her 40s) got hearing aids <2 years ago, had the same reaction. Her doc advised her that she would be overwhelmed at first, but her brain would adjust to taking in all the auditory data with time. The hearing doc also advised that they could "step up" how much ambient noise could be picked up and passed on over time, like working your way up from a low intensity to higher intensity as tolerance allows.

Also, if your hearing aides have the feature, you can have your doc advise you on different sound profiles that adjust how much your devices pass through based on the scenario (e.g., if you're in a crowded dining room, you can "dial down" the intensity, versus a more intimate environment, movie theater, concert hall, etc.). My wife's hearing aides sync to an app via Bluetooth, so she's able to do this on the fly from her phone. Something to look into.

Congrats, and hope this helps.

Wife has worn them for years--4-6k a pop. Last high dollar ones got eaten by our dog and relplaced by online Jabras (under 2k). Great service and quality units, She said best ones she has had.
