Shin splints?

Had some shin splints pop up in the last week or so. It's generally only been an issue in the first mile or so of a run and then it goes away. I know the general cause of this is related to overtraining and or bad shoes. I've taken a few days off from running, done a little ice and ibuprofen and went ahead and replaced my shoes (they had about 275 miles on them). I've also tried to do some calf stretching and light massage.

Besides the above, anything else anyone recommends? Is it ok to resume running at a lower pace/mileage before the pain is gone completely?

I'd keep easing into it then send how you respond. Once your legs get used to the work load you should rarely or never experience that sensation

Second the easing into it idea. Mine typically get mad when I try to increase mileage and intensity at the same time.

Look into some dynamic stretch's to help with them.
