Symptoms started on Monday and wife has pretty much stayed away from me since Monday morning, even sleeping in another room.

We were supposed to host Christmas dinner but obviously had to cancel. So everyone is going to my sisters.

Is it really right to exclude her is she does not have any symptoms by tomorrow? Tomorrow would be 4 days and if she has the virus she would start to show symptoms by then.

Feel like before 2020 and all the gaslighting and lie's around covid this would be an non-issue.

It is fairly contagious but if there's no symptoms then there's unlikely to be any significant viral load that is necessary to have any sort of reasonable odds of spreading it. I'd say she was safe.

Half the people I know right now have this annoying weak cold thst's going around.

An infected person can shed influenza virus for up to 24 hours before symptoms emerge, so it's not that there's NO risk, but seriously? Your sister banned your wife from Christmas? If someone's coming to dinner who is on chemotherapy or just had a bone marrow transplant, OK, I can see it (although they should probably stay home anyway: anyone else could also have the flu and not know it), but otherwise that's just nuts.

She hasn't outright banned her, she just didn't invite her (so technically I guess she was banned).

I told my sister that if my wife does not have symptoms by tomorrow, she needs to tell her to come over b/c there is about he same risk that someone else is shedding the virus but not showing symptoms anyway. And Thursday would be day 4 so if my wife is going to get sick, it will be by tomorrow.

Get XOFLUZA. One pill, can be taken after exposure. Husband had flu, fever, chills, etc. Took the pill and was symptom free in 12 hours. I was able to get it because I was exposed. Best thing ever.

Got Tamiflu, but I'm not sure did much as I felt absolutely terrible last night and when I woke up at 4:30 to go to the bathroom, I almost fell to the floor bc I was so dizzy and disoriented.

When did you start taking the tamiflu?

Tuesday night, about 30-hours after symptoms started.

Still fell pretty meh. Basically been sitting on the couch the last 3-days doing nothing but watching TV. It really sucks. I don't remember the last time I felt this awful. Looking online, this strain appears to be hitting folks pretty hard this year.

Wife said her throat was scratchy this morning but went away after she got up. Mine started with congestion and coughing which lead to a soar throat. I'm still coughing up brown gunk so that's fun.

Too late now to make Christmas, but my suggestion would be to simply have her take a flu test. It would have shown if she was transmissible before she was symptomatic. Because my wife owns a large daycare, we always have plenty of tests on hand. It's a quick and easy way to prevent / slow infection.
