Going on 48 hours. Been addicted to zyn for a couple years now. Tired of it. Withdrawals are a ***** but I feel like mentally I can do it. Tried explaining it to my buddies but they didn't get it. The withdrawals I mean. Hard to explain.

I dipped snuff for about 7 years, a can a day. Quit cold turkey and it was rough. I went through A LOT of sunflower seeds and gum. The craving slowly went away but occasionally I still have a craving for it. Good luck!

Did zyn for a year or so. Had a stroke last Easter. Haven't had one since. I think the stronger addiction is the activity association more than the chemical dependence.

They make caffeine and "nootropic" pouches for the psychological association.

I'm back on nicotine (pouches) again but used substitutes in the past when quitting snuff that seemed to help a bit.

Holy cow! Did your doctor say that the zyn was a key contributing factor? How much were you using? And what level/number

I've used Zen/Velo to quit pouches, which I used to quit skoal long cut, which I used to quit Copenhagen. Now I need to scale down to 3's and then be done with it all after 33 years.

not directly. My blood pressure was very high though. I was using 6mg about 4-5 times a day.

How are you hanging in there OP?

I quit Copenhagen long cut 11 years ago now. Cold Turkey.

Here is one thing that helped me OP. No doubt you are sitting there trying to figure out how to justify having a DIP (or pouch). Just one...just to take the edge off. I can do one here...then wait another few days and go again. Maybe only when I'm drinking. All that pleading.

You are in control of your own mind. Its your mind trying to play tricks on you. Simply don't let it. Almost treat it as an external tormentor. That is easier to fight than yourself. You have to tell yourself to shut the eff up rather that arguing with it.

I don't know...once, I made that break through, it became easy for me.

OP, if you can make it through the first week, you're golden.

Depending on what flavor you used, you might try breath mints/ wint-o-green lifesavers.

I think a previous poster was correct to an extent with associations. Having one when you wake up, after a meal, get in the car, about to go to bed (I was going through about 20 a day, so I associated pretty much every damn thing), those are the biggest times to worry. And don't think you can bum one off a buddy when you're out fishing or golfing. You'll be right back here.

You've got this.

Nicotine is a risk factor for vascular disease (disease of the blood vessels) which is a contributing factor to strokes and heart attacks. I'm not sure how Zyns compare to cigarettes, but even 1 cigarette a day has a measurable increase in risk for the average person.

Also, I saw some dip in all kinds of flavors, made with tea leaves instead of tobacco leaves. Might be a good alternative if dip is the form of nicotine you crave.

on day 25 right now. cold turkey after 7 years.

I quit 4 months last year then went on vacation and grabbed a few cans and unfortunately didnt keep to just the vacation.

It is incredible how much better you feel when youre off of it. And its just so expensive.

my biggest issues with quitting were the obvious of being irritable...but the snacking too. couldnt stop eating at first. It has gotten better now.

stay strong. I am never going back.

I need to quit. Probably 15 8mg pouches day. Curious as to how you "felt better "?

I quit for 4 days a year ago and it wasn't that bad. But haven't had the willpower to try again. I cut my drinking back to 1-2 days a week on average so this is the last bad thing. Which I could just do it occasionally like drinking but doesn't seem to work like that.

This is 100% true. I started dipping when I was 16 and became a heavy dipper while at A&M. I quit for 7 years (night sweats and super vivid dreams were my biggest side affects the first two or three weeks, besides the nicotine cravings and associations). Fake dip helped some with the associations. Unfortunately, when work and family stress got the better of me, I thought I could "have just one." Nope, I was back at it again. Stay strong, and I wish you the best!

Lent starts Wednesday. I'm not Catholic, but it's a nice, defined time period where you have a built in excuse to stop some sort of behavior.

Give it up for Lent. Steer clear of it until that first weekend in April. Then take a look and see if you actually miss it. But you can do anything for 40 days.

You have to rewire your own brain.

But hang in there, and give it ago when you get yourself back together again.

I dipped Copenhagen long cut for a few years after being a very casual smoker. I didn't want to be smoker at work, so I dipped. I wanted to quit when my daughter was born. I was able to, cold turkey. Gum helped me. And then I had to quit gum. Now, I drink water for my addiction. I will still chew gum to calm my nerves and focus if need be. Also, I have no problem having a cigar ever so often. Stay persistent!

I've quit smoking using Chantix. Really helps with lessening the withdrawal symptoms and cravings. I got slight headaches for a week or so but that's about it. Cravings only got bad when I drink so for the first few months, I just drink less to avoid the temptation.

I did have weird vivid dreams, though.
