Nurecover home sauna

I pulled the trigger today. I figured the dollar amount would be a good introduction to a home sauna. Once I determine where I'll live for the next 10 years, I will most likely upgrade to an outdoor and 2-4 person type.

I've walking through a valley right now after losing my wife to cancer two years ago, losing my job and getting sued (I didn't do it) by my old employer when I built my own advisory practice, had a failed relationship (divorce will be final this week), and had the church we both attended tell me, "Go hurt somewhere else."

Needless to say, I've struggled with stress and sleep. I'm in the best shape since I played small college baseball and I'm eating better than I ever have. I do drink more than I should at night when the house is empty and quiet. I know that it interferes with good sleep but it's a habit that I will begin to address.

I'll keep you posted on how this helps with sleep and recovery.

Hey man, prayers sent your way brother. If you can find a way to incorporate some cold plunge into your routine, it will help immensely.

We do two rounds of sauna and cold plunge at night during the week and I cannot emphasize how amazing it is. It will eliminate any desire to have a few drinks at night. The sweat, then the cold, then back to the heat, releases all sorts of endorphins, better than anything booze can provide. Plus the sleep benefits are immense.

We have the clear light 5 person sauna with the optional additional heater. We run it around 170 degrees which according to the studies is the perfect temp range.

We got a big pool chiller that we can isolate to the spa when we want to plunge and it gets down to around 40degrees. There are some other stand alone plunges that might suit you better as well. Moroko forge I think is a popular one.

Man I almost bought one of those a few weeks ago but read some pretty terrible reviews on reddit and got scared to pull the trigger. Make sure the box says SaunaPro, not SaunaGo. Apparently they send a second rate version "in error" way too often. Please send your experience because I'm still looking/hoping to get something like this. Hopefully they've resolved the issue(s) and your's comes in as advertised!

Here's the reddit thread for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sauna/s/TuCRiqjEDT

Please come back and update after you have used it for awhile. Also, praying for you. Sounds like you have a had a rough go of it.

That is a rough go of it, to say the least.

I love baseball, gym stuff, and Jesus. We have likewise experienced some painful hurt via church. If ever wanna chat about any of it you are welcome to hit me up (email username @ gmail)

Hang in there. Let us know how the sauna works out. I've always been interested myself in some kind of setup.

This looks awesome and affordable. After dealing with all the interesting folks in the sauna at my gym, I really am considering an at home and private option.

I will say some of the claims on this site are a bit off. For instance, while this claims a study shows a 4% BF loss, most studies show that doing sauna doesn't really burn any calories at all. The most you'll "lose" is water weight. And that does happen. Obviously. So it can appear that you've leaned down, especially if you're already lean. This is a case of using 1 study to back up a claim when it should be meta-analysis (multiple studies) that is used...

Still, heat therapy is good for most. There has been some evidence that heat therapy possibly helps with hypertrophy. But more evidence would need to be acquired before running with that. It is also shown to aid in recovery.

I'll be curious to see what you think after you've used it a few times....

That's interesting and I didn't even see the weight loss claim. That is not one of the reasons I bought it, for sure. It is only for recovery and sleep.

In our sauna at my gym, a few guys do it to lose weight, so that idea still floats around. But I think most people are realizing that losing weight is about being in a calorie deficit. I do like the water weight loss, which can be helpful to look a little leaner. For me, it is the recovery and relaxation aspect. But the only issue is it gets crowded and that ain't relaxing to me. I try to go super early when I can. Trying to get in there after a workout at 6pm just isn't worth it. Which is why this is intriguing...

I have the same exact sauna. I do it right when I get home from work. Love it. Relaxes me and feels good to sweat out before shower.

OP, I have not faced loss and adversity even remotely close to what you have experienced so I will not pretend. Having said that, the pain and anguish can feel unbearable. Use it to grow even closer to God. I have had a few health issues in the past and in hindsight they were "gifts" to help strengthen my faith.

I did my first session today - just a 10 minute sweat and a cold shower.

Thank you and others for your prayers. I have many mantras I say often and the two most common are:

1) God's sovereignty does not change when my circumstances do
2) I will praise You in this storm

I know I will come out of this stronger and closer to Him. I pray daily that He prepares me to prosper - it has nothing to do with money.

I did a session everyday this week. I have sitting in the sauna and letting it heat up before starting the clock. I worked up to 20 minutes. I plan on doing it 6-7 days a week.

I hydrate really well prior to entry and so some lymphatic drainage self massage on my arms, neck, and abs. After the session I hit a cold shower.

I slept really well last night but can't say I've noticed a huge difference in how I feel overall. It was a different week for me because I also started the week with a 72 hour water fast. I had wanted to a symbolic "cleanse" from all the evil, hate, and anger from the previous two months.

So, as of today, I'm glad I spent the $400 and I will no doubt upgrade as soon as I know where I plan to be for the next few years.

Thanks for the prayers! I know that is my only way through this.
