Took the Osprey book "Korean War Aces" off the shelf last night to browse through for the umpteenth time. I loved these books as a kid and still read them as if it was the first time every time I pick one up.

My Dad's library was full of these books. They are what I read while listening to the FM radio until late at night when I was in Jr High and High school. I now have quiet a few myself.

I do believe that they are the reason for my interest in military history... the "German Infantry in Action" is form around 1972 or 74.

They've been running a deal on their website during the quarantine where you can get free books, check it out.

They are truly superb, and the various spin-offs like Vanguard, etc.

Now and then you get a lemon, but it really depends on the author. Some of them are authored by big names in their field, sometimes not so obvious to the reader. Or had input from them. I knew some of the contributors on the Byzantine works were top notch for example. And for some of the Pacific War ones, have helped with a few.

What is interesting is how wide the variety and scope over time they are covering more and more.

These books are good references that I use frequently while building scale models.
