I never paid much attention to this time in English history. Knew about Henry VIII ( or Henry the V8) and his wives but knew very little about the kings that preceded him and how they got to be kings.

I was binge watching "Outlander" ( No sports on) with the wife and we ran out of episode. We perused through the "Similar programs that others have watched" and came across the trilogy of "The White Queen", "The White Princess" and "The Spanish Princess". My wife enjoys reading these type of books so I said "sure".

That was a mistake.

As I watched the programs I realized these were based upon actual people and actual events. I soon spent most of the time watching TV with her doing research of these actual people and the actual events on my tablet. Turns out that the shows are pretty accurate (minus all the filler love scenes).

They are produced by the BBC. There is gore (Lots of heads roll including one that took three swings and the guys cursing the king at the top of his lungs the whole time) and plenty of "happy relations" when Edward/George, Henrys return from subduing the latest "pretender".

The actual history is pretty cool unto itself. It has opened a whole new frontier for my time and dollars.

Amazon has several good documentaries on this era available.

Since Covid I've learned a hell of lot about England during this period.

You mentioned inaccuracies in the filler love scenes, but I saw the White Princess and I found it preposterous that Princess Elizabeth was madly in love with her uncle Richard III and wanted to marry him. In truth Richard attempted to marry her off into the Portuguese Royal family.

The Showtime The Tudors series is pretty good.

And there's a newer miniseries Wolf Hall that's great. It's from Thomas Cromwell's perspective.
