Saw an old map that shows it just west of Somerville. Is the location known?

Independence used to be Cole's Settlement. I think Cole's Creek runs through Washington county and empties into the Brazos, but I need to go verify.

I've never heard it put together with Yegua.

Ok Cole's Creek in Washington does empty I to the BR, but does not go through Independence. Not near the Yegua

Maybe Coles had a mill on the Yegua?

Ok, so Coles creek is about where the "a" in Br"a"zos is for WotB

Kerr's settlement looks to be south of Sommerville, but north of Brenham. Maybe Gay Hill.

The road running from Washington through Independence, to Kerrs is the La Bahia Road. If you are a motorcyclist, it's a fantastic ride.

Coles Mill looks like it might be pretty close to Snook.

Kerr Settlement later became Union Hill 3 miles North of Burton. Depending on how accurate the original map is, Cole's Mill might just be under Lake Somerville! (But most likely between Somerville dam and the Brazos))....sure would be cool to find the site.

I have access to the lake construction archeology reports. I will try to check and see if the mill site in now underwater.
