My google skills have failed me. But it would seem to me getting tobacco in qty in WWII would have been very difficult quickly for Japan.

And supposedly Imperial Japan was spiking cigarettes for the Chinese market with Opium



Google sources say this wasn't true but the researcher in the video says otherwise. I don't know but would not find it surprising.

Just a guess; but Indonesia has been one of the largest tobacco growers from the 1600's to today.

I'm sure some of the production numbers and rankings have changed, but this gives you a broader idea of which countries produce tabacco in quantity.

I had no idea China produced any tobacco.

Used be able to buy Chinese Marlboros by the truckload in Manhattan back in the day. Counterfeit Chinese cigs used to be a pretty big deal.
