I've started a thread on the Panhandle Board, regarding this battle that ended the Red River Wars of 1874. It was fought on September 28 of that year, so we are close to the 149th anniversary.

Sorry to post on both boards, but I assume most folks here never travel to that board. I'll update this thread when I add to that one, but otherwise, I'd appreciate any comments, questions, or additions to go on that board.

Love visiting Palo Duro Canyon......I can only imagine the safety the Comanches felt there! (Pics from my visit).....and a pic from an article which called the Tonkawas "the cannibal scouts".....which they certainly were likely to have a slice of roasted Comanche!
