I don't have anything to add to the pics other than I was struck by all the young babies in the cemetery and the fact that some of the people were born before the formation of the Republic of Texas.

There's a cemetery in Cool, Texas (west of Ft Worth) where Jack Knight is buried. He received the MoH in WWII. His brother was MIA in Vietnam flying Skyraiders. He was found in 2019 and buried alongside his brother. Roy's son, a SW Airlines pilot, flew him home.

Infant mortality and the death of mothers during childbirth were so common in the 19th century and yet they persevered. It really puts the modern world to shame with how people mentally break so easily over much more trivial things.

Fulshear claims to have been founded in 1824. So that community is over 200 years old.

When USACE built Lake Whitney in 1947 they moved 13 old cemeteries. One was at the town of Kimball in Bosque County. It had been established in 1853. The other of note was the Fort Graham cemetery on the Hill County side which had been there since 1847 when the fort was active. The headstones from those are pretty much like the one's pictures The are two others that are very close to the government property that were not moved, both have VERY old graves. Lots of Confederate Veterans and Texas Rev War Veterans (Republic of Texas markers). These are from the Kimball cemetery which were relocated to the Hickey Cemetary about three miles to the south of the Brazos River on Highway 174

Noticed your picture of the shells on that one gravesite. I just visited an old family cemetery outside of Atlanta Georgia and saw the same thing. Very old cemetery near the Chattahoochee River. I thought it was unique to just that cemetery!

There were several more grave markers that were of that same design. All were in pretty rough shape. I found the entire thing fascinating because it didn't make sense to me.
