This has a lot of humor but also seems pretty well researched and documented. I was familiar with the RR jet engine stories about how the soviets copied the metallurgy and other secrets for the engines that the brits stupidly sold to Russia.

But

I had never heard about Kurt Tank and the fighter he developed for Argentina and how similar the two look and fly. And also the Ukrainian effort that also looks and behaves much like the Mig15.

So for those that think they know, do we believe the soviet development story? Or was it all fabricated to give communism a good story?

Kurt Tank and ****e-Wulf were developing what would become the basic jet fighter design for the next 20 years or so before the war ended. The Soviets captured much of that research and was instrumental in their early, and some follow-on designs. Tank continued his work in Argentina and it's not a surprise that the Argie jet and the Commie jet are very similar.

****e-Wulf Ta 183 "Huckebein" and it's post-war descendants, the F-86, MiG-15, Saab 29 and IAe 33 Pulqui I

Interestingly, the Soviets didn't want to copy the Me-262 (Nevermind the Su-9, and Su-11), though two generations of MiG's used the flair dispenser from it.

That is a great channel, imho. The -262 (which the Soviets built/assembled 6 copies of) really was better than the MiG-9 of 1948, though it never really had 'great' engines.

Anyway, Mark Felton did a great episode on the Argentine Kurt Tank fighter.

Could this Mig do a negative four g dive?
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.
