Need recommendation please.

Also, regarding Yorktown, are there any books that dig into what the Virginia Militia did and their movements?

1776 does a pretty good job describing the fighting at New York. Not Washington's finest moment. There's also an Army War College publication that's a good military introduction to the battle and campaign:

Washington's Immortals also gives good coverage to New York. I remember reading the book in about 2017-18 in New York and being particularly pleased by the fact that the author goes to the trouble to provide modern terrain landmarks for particular events.

Thank yall! That battle is so fascinating to me because the revolution could have ended right there before it had hardly started.

Any thoughts on the Virginia Militia's role and movements at Yorktown. I ask because my 7 times great grandfather was VA Militia and I'm interested in learning more about what he did/may have done. I've been to Yorktown and found his name on the roster which was really cool.

NY:
Schecter, The Battle for New York
LePore, New York Burning
Ketchum, Divided Loyalties

Yorktown:

Greene, The Guns of Independence
Ketchum, Victory at Yorktown

Not to push you in a particular direction but Ketchum is an excellent writer.
