How long has it been since you last visited Aggieland???

I was there for six years and the campus changed so much in that span. It seems that wherever there's an open lot on main campus, a building gets built there.

Show me an exterior picture. I dont know what it looks like on the outside.

Personally want to see a real sized replica of the train station actually near the tracks (like in the form of a restaurant/bar/grill) but the Rail Road Right Of Way most likely wouldn't permit that to happen.

But given the many different improvements made it would be nice to see how it has changed over the years via a large scale model.

I think a museum would be the best thing for prospective students/recruits....I went to KU for the bball game a couple years back and my favorite part was the museum..it'd also one day house all of the championships we will win....right?

An Aggie traditions and sports museum is a great idea...but probably not at Jolly Rollie. Those who advocate for the museum to be at Jolly Rollie are not listening to the other posters who are telling you that it is incredibly expensive to operate the building.

To save the building, an architect or engineer will need to figure out ways to stop the mold (and thereby stop running the air conditioning constantly). At a minimum, this would probably require lots of concrete in the voids at or below grade.

But even then, what would you do with the stands? The stands cannot be readily used for a museum. You could rip out the stands and create more room. Even without ripping out the stands, there would be a lot of wasted space above the court. And another poster said there were not enough entrances and exits into the stands to comply with the Fire Code.

I am not an architect or engineer, but it would probably be much cheaper to building a museum from the ground up and thereafter operate it rather than renovate Jolly Rollie and thereafter operate it. If it cannot be renovated for the Volleyball Team, I suspect its days are numbered.

oh by the way, we already have a museum under Kyle Field. Why would be build another one???

Tear it down...put something very nice in it's place...something that goes along with Kyle Field (allow for renovations of the stadium in the future.)

The coach has been struggling but it was only a couple of years ago that she had made 10 plus straight NCAA Tourney Appearances. The recruiting isn't there right now compared to t.u. and nebraska, so hopefully that could change soon.

A little mini-Northgate right there would be epic...

perhaps stating the obvious, but G. Rollie may be the home to many of the MSC offices or even the textbook part of the bookstore during the renovation period.

I saw so many concerts there--back when they had one before just about every midnight yell.

Plus incredible Shelby era basketball--and yes the football team sat under the basket and were a force to be reckoned with.

I saw Mario Brown bring excitement to the court. I left near deafness for an hour or two it was so loud.

Here I saw Helen Ready, John Denver, Chris Kristopherson (sp), Charlie Pride, and the Carpenters, just to name a few.

It was a grand place for the time, but it's time really is over.

We have two great museums already--the Sander's Museum really does reflect the history of the school, and the sports museum is there for that aspect. I would love to see it used as more than just a parking lot though.

So did I! It's amazing what a warren of hallways are in that place. I went back in it looking for a class and wound up deep in the bowls of a labyrinth from which I was uncertain I would ever emerge.

I also had an intro Econ class in Jolly Rollie that was beneath the "hotbox" or whatever that one practice basketball court is (upstairs in GRW - not the ones in Reed). You'd hear bouncing basketballs from some intermural practice or keniseology class during the entire lecture.

Highrise condos for Former Students. You get campus or kyle field views. The Kyle Field view requires donation to view game from apartment.

I want a re-do on another basketball gym. Something that holds about 10,000 should do.

Good times at G Rollie.. great basketball games and graduated there!!!!

Those palm trees really take it from crap to craptacular.

Just curious the average age of all of you who have the "good riddance" attitude. While it may need to go for monetary purposes, I have fond memories of sitting on the top row of G. Rollie watching Sonny P., Rynn Wright, Barry Davis and the likes. It will be sad to see it go.

What they put in its place will have to be a multipurpose athletic building, I think. Do you know the number of offices, PE classes, intramurals games and camps that they use that place for? They can't afford to give up all that gym space.
