quote:
I lost my Dad on Jan. 3, 2012

That would have been Dad's 83rd birthday.

And thanks for all the kind words. I know so many of you have similar dads and/or similar stories, which is why I thought many would enjoy it.

It's like the movie It's a Wonderful Life. It is amazing at how many lives a good Ag and a good man can influence.

Follow-up.

We watched the game with Mom at her house.

My son and his friend got to use Mom and Dad's tickets and had a great time tailgating, seeing old friends, and most of the football game.

Czervik 86 was there, and my son got to tell him in person how much the family appreciated his post. Czervik 86 told my son to tell Mom that everyone in the section missed her. When I told Mom on the phone, you could tell she was deeply touched.

As you who have been through this know, the "firsts" are one of the hardest parts. First holiday, birthday or anniversary without the loved one, etc.

The Aggie family made the first Aggie football game without dad just a little easier to endure.

Going to send this ttt one final time. As the 2013 season approaches, another reminder of what Aggie football is really about seems appropriate.

Not to mention the fact that Dad would have absolutely loved the Ag's 2012 season.

Besides, with the rebuilding of Kyle Field, the old seating pattern will be changing entirely, and the family season tickets will be with a different, but I'm sure a great group of Aggies.

I'm CanyonAg77s son and had the privilege of thanking Cas Walker in person for his kind words and memories last year at the Florida game.

As anyone who has lost a close family member knows, at some point you have to stop dwelling on their loss and start celebrating their life. It meant so much to all of us to have another Aggie share his memories of my granddad and have another reason to celebrate his life and remember the kind of man he was.

I'm only going to be able to attend a few games this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing my Aggie family again. I hope all of you will take a few minutes to get to know the people sitting around you at the games this season. After all, they're your Aggie family...and it's what my granddad would have done.

Canyon,

He did enjoy the 2012 season. And he's got his popcorn ready for Saturday, I'm sure.

Thanks for posting, CanyonAg. Brought back memories of my Dad.

So much more than football, but it belongs on the football board.
