Good Bull: Former Aggie TE Martellus Bennett raises funds for school library
The giving season may be over, but don't tell that to former Texas A&M and current New England Patriots TE Martellus Bennett. Responding to a plea for fund-raising assistance from a Boston school's community field coordinator, Bennett pledged around $2,500 to help build a school library.
Donating all but the final five dollars needed to fund the library, the 2014 Pro Bowl tight end "really saved the day," according to Courtney Maginnis, who sent the original tweet asking for help.
Bennett, who visited the school to read to students over Christmas break, went on to donate copies of his book, "Hey A.J. It's Saturday!" to the library, as well.

When someone suggested that Courtney Maginnis fire off a tweet to New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett asking him to contribute to a fund-raiser to benefit the reading program at the Maurice J. Tobin K-8 School, she had an inkling that the athlete might respond and chip in.
What she didn’t expect, though, was that Bennett would dig deep, and push the school’s fund-raising beyond its goal by forking over roughly $2,500 to the cause.
“I went on a whim and tweeted him . . . and within two minutes he tweeted back,” said Maginnis, the Roxbury school’s community field coordinator. “He was all about helping us out.”

As reported by the Boston Globe, Maurice J. Tobin K-8 School was struggling to raise money for the project and was far short of its $3,000 goal. That is, until Bennett stepped in.
