Recruiting Country: The latest recruiting news surrounding the Maroon & White
Key notes from Recruiting Country
- Texas A&M clearly got beat on Saturday, nothing else that you can say. I think the biggest thing is, that's what the coaches say when they get asked about it. You don't hide it, you have to own it and move on. This is a strong recruiting staff, and they know what they're doing. It'll be interesting to see how they close down the stretch. If you want to get better on the field, it's clear they need to bring in more talent.
- There are running backs out there, that seems to be the center of all the talk. Jay Graham saw Daniyel Ngata this week out in California. EJ Smith is in contact with the coaches, as well. Then Zach Evans. He was initially supposed to be announcing today, but that plan changed. If the decision had been made today, I believe it would've been LSU. With Zach and Texas A&M, it always comes back to how at home he feels here in Aggieland.
- When Zach started to come on the national scene, Zach talked to me about his respect and admiration for Jimbo Fisher. He appreciates the way he coaches. I've never gone all in one way or another, but this thing has had a lot of ups and downs, but the Aggies have always been in it. It's going to be a battle until the very end. I respect Zach for not making his decision until he was 100% sure.
- On the offensive line, the Aggies are still in on Javonne Shepherd in the transfer portal and Ty'Kieast Crawford. I think Crawford may have to go to a JUCO to get his grades situation settled, however.
Ask Brauny
What happened with Josh Ellison?
These spots are getting really tight. Josh got himself academically in a better place, but they just didn't want to take the risk on someone with that history. Josh believes he is a full qualifier, so he will find a place to play college football. You never know, though, he could go back to Blinn and play another year.
How do you think the RB situation shakes out?
I think there is no way to know how it ends up with 100% certaintry. There are so many moving parts; it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.
Who's still in play on the defensive side of the ball in the secondary?
At DB, Jeffery Carter is going to depend on numbers. I think from what I've heard from Jason; he wants to be at Texas A&M. I don't think the Aggies take another safety, but they need a corner.
