Aggie legend Sirr Parker discusses walking the stage with his A&M degree

Key notes from Sirr Parker interview

  • This weekend was a great experience. I had a blast. It's always good to come back, and I got to bring my boys back. It was such a good weekend.

  • Texas A&M is a big deal to me. It took me a while to get back. It was important for me to get my degree, especially after I spent four years here. It was important for my kids to see the importance of finishing what you start.

  • This is an entirely different culture. Jimbo Fisher has brought a different swagger to the program. In past years, I've seen the Aggies go down, and that would be it. Recently, they've gone down but continued to fight. They are always looking to press the issue. It's a great championship atmosphere. To come in at No. 6 proves that things are looking bright.

  • That Big 12 Championship game feels like it was just yesterday, but it has been 20 years. Coach Slocum and the coaches had a good game plan. We were down early on some basic mistakes, but we were able to come back. We never felt like we were out of the game. We kept chugging away and were able to come out on top thanks to some key plays from key players. We kept fighting and fighting until we prevailed.

  • I still talk to all of my roommates. I talk to Dante Hall from time to time. Erik Jennings. In the social media era, we're able to keep in touch with guys we wouldn't see or talk to every day. I'm able to keep up with a lot of that team.

  • I have young boys, so I have to stay in shape in case they attempt to try me one day. I'm always trying to stay young as long as I can.

  • My nine-year-old is already verbally committed to Texas A&M in his mind, so we're not going anywhere anytime soon.

That's awesome, seems like Parker is doing well and I always love seeing guys walk the stage. I'm happy for him and grateful for some of my formative memories of Aggie football.

I remember that big 12 championship game so well. I was driving from Houston to Dallas, I had to pull over at an El Chico (in Huntsville maybe?) so I could watch overtime. I was so excited about our future in the big 12 back then... Funny how things change, but one thing that hasn't is that Sirr Parker is still a badass.

Nice to hear that we're already stocking up on the class of '30.
