Key notes from Peter Burns interview

  • These are great problems to have when you are 3-0 as Texas A&M. The key thing once they lost Haynes King was just to make sure they didn't lose any of these games. Jimbo knows they need to improve each and every time they take the field. There's a particular value in my mind to a team having a "bad" win like this. It gives you the ability to go ahead and watch/correct the mistakes.

  • The big thing for Texas A&M this weekend is taking care of the ball and forcing KJ Jefferson to throw the ball into tight windows. I haven't seen him do that yet, and I think that's what they need to force him to do. If I'm Mike Elko, I'm putting eight in the box and making that guy beat me with his arm, and if it happens, you'll tip your cap to him. This is a game where the defense will win it for the Aggies more than the offense.

  • I think you'll see the same thing on the other side from the Arkansas defense; make Zach Calzada beat them. I do think it's interesting with Texas A&M because of the new weapons you saw emerge on the outside for Texas A&M vs. New Mexico. I think Arkansas has the better OL, but they have to go up against Leal and Co., which might make it a push in my mind.

  • I cant wait to see the chess game between Barry Odom and Jimbo fisher. Barry Odom is a great defensive mind; he will be a head coach somewhere next year. Noi doubt. Then you have another great DC in Mike Elko. Remember why Jimbo hired him... it wasn't because of a prior relationship; it's because when Jimbo faced him, Elko was a pain in his ass.

  • I think Ole Miss might be one of the most dangerous teams in the country. Maybe not the best, but it seems like they could beat anybody on any day. I think DJ Durkin is doing a great job with that defense with the simple things. Talent was never the issue in Oxford. I bet at this point, Lane Kiffin & Co. wish they had a game this weekend to tune-up for Alabama instead of a bye week.
