During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fishbowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as a busy weekend is on tap in College Station with football, soccer and volleyball all in action.


Ring Day
The Association of Former Students will hand out about 5,200 Aggie Rings this weekend at the Hall of Champions at Kyle Field.

Football (3-0)
Following the Aggies’ 34-0 shutout of New Mexico last week, the Aggies stayed put in both the AP poll and Coaches poll.

On Monday afternoon, punter Nik Constantinou was named the Southeastern Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. New Mexico.

  • Constantinou punted four times for a 45.5 average, and all four of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. He had a long of 61 yards that was downed at the 5.

On Tuesday night, the Southeastern Conference released the 2022 football schedule.

During the Jimbo Fisher Radio Show on Wednesday night, Jimbo Fisher said that wide receiver Caleb Chapman was “doubtful” for this weekend’s top-20 matchup with Arkansas.

  • At that point, Fisher said that Ainias Smith and Layden Robinson were still “day-to-day.”

The seventh-ranked Aggies travel to Arlington this weekend to face No. 16 Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in the first SEC game of the season on Saturday.

  • Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
  • As of Friday morning, Texas A&M is a 5.5-point favorite.
  • Coming into the contest, the Aggies have won nine straight games over the Razorbacks.

Soccer (5-4-1, 1-1 in SEC)
On Thursday night, Texas A&M dropped its SEC home opener to No. 11 Arkansas, falling to the Razorbacks in overtime, 1-0, at Ellis Field.

  • 97’: Arkansas’ Anna Podojili scored the match's only goal.
  • Arkansas outshot the Aggies, 22-9.
  • A&M's Kenna Caldwell and Arkansas' Hannah Werner each made four saves.
  • In addition to Barbara Olivieri begin sidelined with a knee injury, the Aggies were also without Maile Hayes, Mia Pante and Daria Britton.

The Aggies are back in action on Sunday as they travel to The Plains to face No. 12 Auburn.

  • Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT and will stream on SEC Network+

Volleyball (8-3, 1-0 in SEC)
The Aggies’ opened SEC play with a four-set win over Alabama on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa.

  • 20-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-16
  • Morgan Christon had a game-high 22 kills on a .395 attacking percentage.
  • Camille Conner had 44 assists, and Macy Carrabine had 23 digs.

Texas A&M hosts South Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena.

Men’s Golf
After a strong performance at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational, Texas A&M moved up in the polls.

Sophomore Sam Bennett has earned an exemption into this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, which will be played at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Bay Hill, Florida.

  • The tournament is scheduled for March 1-6, 2022.

The Aggies will be back in action with the SEC Match Play Championship in Shoal Creek, Alabama.

  • The tournament begins on Sunday, October 10, and runs through Tuesday, October 12.

Softball
On Tuesday, Jo Evans announced that Peter Suarez has joined the Texas A&M coaching staff as the Director of Player and Program Development.

  • Suarez spent the last five years at Iowa State as the Cyclones' Director of Softball Operation.

The Southeastern Conference released the 2022 league schedule as the Aggies now know who they’ll face in the gauntlet that is the SEC.

Baseball
On Tuesday, Jim Schlossnagle and the Aggies hit the diamond for the first day of fall practice.

Texas A&M received another verbal commitment as San Jacinto College RHP Dillon Janac has announced his pledge to the Aggies.

Women’s Golf
Gerrod Chadwell and the Aggies are back in action this weekend, playing in the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma.

  • The tournament begins on Sunday, September 26, and concludes on Monday, September 27.

Cross Country
The Aggies are back in action on Saturday as they'll run in the Texas A&M Invitational at the Watts Cross Country Course.

  • The Men’s 8K begins at 8:00 a.m. CT
  • The Women's 6K begins at 8:45 a.m. CT
  • Baylor, North Texas, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Tarleton State, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M Kingsville and UTSA will also run in thee meet.

Equestrian
Texas A&M opens the 2021-22 season this weekend in Bookings, South Dakota, as the Aggies take on South Dakota State.

  • The match begins at 8:00 a.m. CT on Saturday and will be not televised.
