Moss has always been better than LJ. Moss is faster and more agile. Unsurprising if Lj leaves. Moss is a beast.
Recruiting Country: The latest recruiting news surrounding the Maroon & White
TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio this morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail as the Aggies are back at Kyle Field and will have some visitors present against Ole Miss game.
Key notes from Recruiting Country
- 42 days between home games. It’s wild. I won’t disclose the visitor list on-air but the list will be out on Thursday. There will be high profile names. Daymion Sanford and David Hicks with two other five stars in town. It’s going to be good to get these kids back together. The visitor list will be impressive. It's an important day in the recruiting calendar. Ahead of National Signing Day, the message may have changed but what you are trying to do is the same. There will be kids here committed to other schools.
- You have to talk about the suspensions from the freshman class. You're crazy if you think these recruits don't know these freshmen. They see this stuff happening. A&M better be ready for those questions to be asked this weekend. The recruits this weekend will ask about it and you better tell them the truth. There is not a standard if there is no punishment.
- It's been hard to say that players are helping recruiting because you've played two home games. One game was Appalachian State and then Miami was at 8 p.m. They all went home after. Bobby Taylor still does a great job. There was more intermingling between last year's team and the recruits. That 42 day break was huge if recruiting. If you were 6-1 and you were coming home to play Ole Miss, there would probably be more juice. The Florida game, they will be geting visitors that are the caliber of players they need for this conference.
- One of the best scenorios is young guys playing and making an impact. You can tell Hicks, look at these guys that are playing who you are playing that you are as good as or better than. There are young guys making impacts. As a recruit, you can look at it and say, “Look, he did it.” You have to sell the sizzle because the steak doesn't taste too good right now.
- Malik Muhammad will be here on an official visit. He is committed to Texas. A&M will not be the only other official visit he takes. Jayvon Thomas, his teammate, is committed to A&M.
- I think they will have to utilize the transfer portal. One new offer in Cali, Taeshaun Lyons a wide reciever and He will visit A&M. They haven't had a bunch of new offers. If they are unable to get momentum on the field or recruiting trail, it needs to happen soon. Committed or not, you have to get those kids here. It's inevitable that they are leaving spots in the transfer portal.
- I don't think recruits get caught up in the wins and losses. This Saturday, a win helps you feel good. It's hard to say during a season that you are 3- 4 that a win is a top-5 win for Jimbo but it feels like it. The suspension, maybe that's where they change things and go forward. The program needs to feel good. If 100,000 people show up and have your back for a 3-4 football team, that would be a great display for recruits. It gets the boat off the shore.
- I have not heard any recruits waver in their commitments.
- LJ Johnson, you don't know his status. Devon Achane could get to the league. You have to find a running back in this class. No if’s and or buts about it. There are names I want A&M to go after, including Jelani McDonald and Parker Jenkins committed to Houston.
- Thursday, I will be at North Shore vs Atascocita. If there is a year where Atascocita can get North Shore, this is it. Friday night, I will be at College Station vs. Consol for the first time in seven years. I haven’t heard anything about them moving the game back because of weather.
