Texas A&M adds former Boston College CB Josh DeBerry via transfer portal
Texas A&M continues to add key pieces to the 2023 roster, and today, they dipped into the transfer portal for a veteran playmaker at cornerback as Josh DeBerry announced his plans to transfer from Boston College to Texas A&M.
His decision comes on the heels of his official visit to Texas A&M for the 2023 Maroon & White Game, and he rejoins Steve Addazio who originally recruited the 5-foot-11, 180-pound defender to Boston College.
Over four years for the Golden Eagles, DeBerry played in 39 games and recorded 158 tackles, 14 TFLs, 1 sack, 4 INTs and 19 pass deflections. He earned honorable mention All-ACC as a senior and sophomore, and he earned Second Team All-ACC honors as a junior. He was also named to the Bednarik Award Watch List before the 2022 season.
Originally from Warren (MI) De La Salle Collegiate Prep, he signed with Boston College in the 2019 recruiting class. He chose the Golden Eagles over the likes of Cincinnati, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Northwestern and Wake Forest. He was regarded as a three-star prospect and one of the top prospects in Michigan.
DeBerry is a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility. He officially entered the transfer portal on March 23, and Texas A&M offered on April 4. He also received offers from Ole Miss, Arkansas, Wisconsin and Coastal Carolina this spring. He joins cornerbacks Sam McCall (Florida State) and Tony Grimes (North Carolina) as Texas A&M transfer additions in 2023.
