Around Aggieland (8/4)
On Friday’s edition of TexAgs Radio, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things A&M as summer is winding down. Many Aggies are being named to preseason watch lists and the basketball team will play a charity softball game for Buzz's Bunch.
Football
Texas A&M football officially began preparations for the 2023 season on Tuesday as the team reported for fall camp.
Camp will continue through the weekend as Sunday will be Media Day and the team hosting an Open Practice presented by St. Joseph Health at Kyle Field on Sunday, Aug. 6. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.
- Fans are encouraged to park in lot 62 and can enter Kyle Field through Entry 3 Hall of Champions to sit in the west side field boxes. This is a non-ticketed event, and concessions will not be open. Fans are encouraged to bring in bottles of water. Video streaming of the event is prohibited.
Watch Lists:
- Texas A&M defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson was named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced by the Football Writers Association of America Tuesday morning. The award is given annually to the nation's most outstanding interior lineman.
- Nik Constantinou was named to the Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List, the August Sports Council announced Wednesday morning. The award annually honors the nation's top collegiate punter.
- Max Wright was named to The Wuerffel Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced by the Wuerffel Foundation Thursday morning. The Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their impact and inspire greater service across the nation.
Former Aggie QBs
Johnny Manziel is opening his own bar on Northgate. It will be where One15 used to be. It will be a shot bar to start out, and the date to open is still unknown.
Kellen Mond started from the Cleveland Browns in yesterday's Hall of Fame game. He finished with 68 percent completion, 92 yards and one TD in one half.
Basketball
Texas A&M's basketball softball game supporting Buzz's Bunch is tonight! First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. and admission is $5 at Davis Diamond.
After several solid performances on the Orlando Magic summer league team, Dexter Dennis has reached an agreement with the Dallas Mavs. He will sign an exhibit 10 contract, which are one year minimum deals that can be converted into a two-way contract. This will give Dexter an opportunity to compete for the final two-way contract for the Dallas Mavs.
Track & Field
The Texas A&M cross country teams unveiled their 2023 schedule, featuring a pair of home races at the Watts Cross Country Course.
