TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country interview

  • *Liucci walks in. Nuño and Liucci collectively say, "Let's go home," and walk out on Brauninger.*

  • Oh, is this planned? That's great. That's so good. I am glad you guys did that.

  • Joshua Celiscar, I don't think any of us saw that coming. It's one of the few times that I can remember of us being completely caught off guard by a name we had not heard of.

  • With the commitment of Landon Rink‍ in the high school ranks and Celiscar that's six addition on the defensive line since December: Kendall Jackson, Solomon Williams, Nic Scourton, Cashius Howell, Rodas Johnson and now Seliscar. A lot of people were wondering what would happen at the portion.

  • The passing of Terry Price was a big hit on the DL. When Elijah Robinson chose to go to Syracuse, that was a position that had been so well recruited and developed for a long time. A lot of A&M fans were wondering how they would keep the train running.

  • For Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie, you have to give them a huge check mark in that box. They have been sensational. What happens if your next DL addition is out of the high school ranks, and it's DJ Sanders‍?

  • Rink is going to be a huge asset as he tries to change the mindset and culture over there. You have to tip your hat to Spencer and Jerod-Eddie. I am pumped for Jerod-Eddie. He is making a name for himself.

  • Husan Longstreet‍ is announcing Sunday, April 14. Marcus Garcia‍, too. That is two A&M targets.

  • Garcia has a high upside out of Denton Ryan. He has position versatility at OL. He can play anywhere along the line of scrimmage, even center, if you want him to. He has good track-throwing numbers. Adam Cushing has been right there for a while. I feel pretty good about where A&M is at for Garcia.

  • Longstreet is a quarterback out of California who has been pinned at the top of Collin Klein's board since he got the job at A&M. He has a really quick release, a lot of dual-threat abilities, and there is upside there. He got invited to the Elite 11 Camp and was outstanding. I think it will come down to A&M and Auburn. He is coming off of visits to both. We still feel pretty good. Less confident about Longstreet than we are about Garcia.

  • If you look at guys on campus, he is more like Marcel Reed but built differently. More stocky. It's a similar skill set. Ty Hawkins‍ is committed to TCU, but they remind me of each other.

  • Garcia is light, only 250 to 260 pounds right now. He has the proper measurables and is very flexible. Good feet. Positional versatility comes into effect there.

  • A position in the portal I have my eye on this cycle? Wide receiver, linebacker... I have said I would like to see them add one more interior defensive lineman. I think Celiscar is that guy. If you go into the fall with what you have, I think the staff would be good with it. That's a group that has talent, experience and different body styles. It's a well-rounded room.

  • Wide receiver and linebacker... If you find an impact player in either of those positions, you make a move. That is not to say they are unhappy there. The other linebacker spot opposite Taurean York is really important.

  • Josh Pate has talked about this: Portal madness is not going to be restricted to just Texas A&M. It will happen all across the county. We have seen reports of Bear Alexander at USC leaving. Damien Martinez, RB at Oregon State, had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

  • There will be premier players going in the portal. When it happens at Texas A&M, don’t be surprised. There is no reason to get up and arms. It's part of what college football is now. You have to be prepared for it.

  • The good news for A&M fans is that you have a staff and head coach who will be proactive rather than reactive in fighting it.

  • Last weekend, there were a lot of visitors. I would imagine they will have guys this weekend. Last weekend, Kiotti Armstrong‍, Jackson Christian‍ and Javian Osborne‍.

  • Two new offers went out: Cardae Mack‍ and Myson Johnson-Cook‍. You ought to see that kid.

  • Keelon Russell‍ was in town. The vistors’ weekends have been hugely productive for A&M. It shows the top targets an idea of what Elko's program will look like. They are laying the groundwork for commitments once we get into those summer OVs.

  • Let's go home.

You didn't mention Trent Wilson, we lost him to the Sooners. Why?
