We all know the sips are the media darlings. ESPN has had a hard on for them for many years. But I think the hype surrounding them is BS. Who have they beaten? Michigan has struggled to a 2-1 record. Fresno State gave Michigan everything they wanted. Hell, Arkansas State stayed within 10 of the Wolverines. The sips dominated Colorado State, who is miserable. And they pummeled UTSA, who is 1-2 and also miserable. As the season goes on, the cracks in their foundation are going to show. Especially on October 19 when Georgia visits. (I know Georgia had a close one against Kentucky, but they are an SEC team with SEC talent, and most great teams have one of those games every year.) This coming week the sips are going to curb stomp UL Monroe and EsipN will act like they were world beaters.

I agree but they are protected by the NCAA and the zebras on the field. You have to beat your opponent and the moderators on the field that are very slanted

would love to see them fail, but...chances are better than 50/50 they have 0 or 1 loss coming into our game and a playoff spot already locked up. Unfortunately I think they are very good...just not sure if they are "elite" yet...but very good.

They have a good team, they are untested. They have an incredibly weak SEC schedule. I really only see a loss to UGA and potentially us if we can get our **** together. 12 team playoff is not good for them.

I wish they had been assigned a typical SEC schedule. As of right now they only play three ranked SEC opponents which is unusual. There's no way OU will be ranked by the end of the year giving their schedule so by the end of the year they will be playing a total of two ranked opponents all year. I don't think Michigan will be around at the end of the year either.

I wish they would have given them the more traditional SEC West schedule with at least Ole Miss, lsu, alabama, etc. Giving them Vandy, kentucky, a down Florida team, Arky with their coach on his last lifeline, is such a season booster and doesn't put them through the same ringer. The thing about the SEC is that it's always been a grind. Playing a lot of these good teams back to back is what gets you.

Playing essentially the worst teams plus A&M and Georgia isn't the same. They were granted huge favors by the schedule makers.

I think OU will be tough for them because it always is.

Weak ground game. They'll get exposed.

And before anyone says it, I think our schedule isn't that bad either. South Carolina seems better than advertised and LSU will probably be at full capability by the time we play them. I wish we could replace one of them with Vandy.

They are massively benefitting from good timing giving them a weak schedule where they will only be tested 2-3 times all year.

I think they get popped in the mouth by 2 out of these five ( OU, Arky, Georgia, Kentucky, A & M).

Part of that is based on a) Injuries are working on their depth and they haven't even started conference play, b) other than last yr Sarkisian hasn't ever won anything of note, & c) not convinced the Michigan win is a predictor of performance against said 5 teams - all 5 may be markedly better than this yrs Michigan team.

I'm not saying they aren't good. They are. They are not what the hype says imo.

Why are they protected? Everyone tells me they are. How come? What goes on at t..u. that no other school can replicate? Does ESPN have the power to control referees? Is it because the sips were so incredible when they had 2 10 win seasons between 1983 and 2000 or when they had one 10-win season between 2010-2022? We are so quick to say that everyone is biased towards them Why? Why do so many people want them so desperately to succeed? Money? Is it just money? We've got a **** ton of money, but everyone says the NCAA and the SEC and ESPN hates us. Is our money not good for them?

lol, they will likely be undefeated going into the SEC Championship game. They are good.

Both QBs look sharp. While I do think beating down Michigan may not be all it is cracked up to be, I think they've got as legitimate of a claim on the #1 spot as anyone in the country.

They're going to get to prove it now.

I think the way they replaced so many draft picks is impressive. They are one of the top teams in the country and will likely make the playoffs as a high seed.

With that said, I don't think any team in the country goes undefeated. And if we get some things ironed out and get on a roll, I like our chances.

Most opinions on here will be through maroon glasses. You have to remember all the people on here automatically dismissing Sark as a failure before he even coached a game.

they are a much more solid team than most on texags will admit. that said, they've done nothing to earn their #1 ranking, and I dont' believe they will be in that #1 spot later in the year. However, their schedule is set up very nicely and they will more likely than not make the playoffs again. In one year, there is a distinct possibility that they have accomplished more in the SEC than we have in 12 years. It makes me cringe to even think about it. I hope they implode, but I wouldn't put money on it.

The SEC is a different beast. They are talented but do they have the depth to handle the attrition?

How many losses will it take for the to be bounced from the top 12. Given their favoritism, I think it's 3. Unfortunately, they will prob only have 1 loss before us. But it's possible they have 2. I do believe we will win that game, if injury situations dont worsen.

They have the easiest SEC schedule in the history of the SEC. They'll be in the playoffs and likely have another easy path with their seeding.

The only ones that can stand in their way is likely us. We'll have our chance to play spoiler at home this year, and I like our chances.

I love all the hand wringing before the sips have played a single SEC opponent. Georgia, Kentucky, OU, Arkansas and A&M all will be tough games for them. If they make it through the season with one loss, then hats off to them. But I don't think that will happen. The SEC is a meat grinder, even when playing a schedule mostly comprised of second and third tier teams.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

Why? They have a Sr. QB, very experienced OLine, and 6 deep at WR. That's almost always a recipe for success. I try and be rational and there's just no rational reason why we'll be favored. Can we win, sure. Will we be favored. Doubtful unless they implode. Their schedule isn't much harder than last year. Just change out Bama for Georgia. OU is worse. We may be the only other hard game on their schedule. The time is coming for a real SEC schedule, but this isn't the year. Next year they open at tOSU with a new OLine and QB, and only have 3 true SEC home games. They'll be back to 7-5 or 8-4 soon enough.

Mizzou's ranked SEC foes are Alabama, OU, and A&M - so that's even easier than Texas' slate unless we're ready to throw Georgia under the bus. That game is at home, sort of early in the season, and there was the close Kentucky game. If Texas wins it should be pretty easy to say Mizzou's (SEC) schedule was more difficult assuming Bama stays unbeaten.

Come to think of it A&M only has 3 ranked SEC teams on its schedule too. Maybe more unlikely than unusual then.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
texas has an easy sec schedule but then they get a hard one in the following year right? I don't see the point.

We played ND at home. They played Mich on road. Most would say away is harder.
We get 17 lsu and 7 mizz at Home. No other ranked team.
They get 16 OU neutral, 2 Ga home. No other ranked team.

They have the harder schedule.
Faustus
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That doesn't take into account the UT A&M game. A&M has the harder SEC schedule with 1, 7, and 17 vs. 2, 16, and 25.
Medaggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The thesis of this thread is they have an easy schedule and how bad of a team they are. So not sure you can use them trying to prove to opposite points

Bad teams will always have a harder schedule than top teams in general because they don't play themselves. As things are all equal, a #1 team will in general have an easier schedule b/c they will never play the #1 team.

It's not a hissy fit, I'm looking for a legit answer. Everyone always claims everything is biased towards t.u. I'd like a well-thought answer from someone about why that is.

If you can't provide it, move along.
