Posting this for anybody who goes to a game at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, SC in the future.

Columbia, SC
Flights/Drive
  • Flew into Charleston, SC (about 112 miles from Columbia)
  • Easy drive straight down Interstate 26 to get to Columbia

The town itself was nothing special, definitely recommend staying in Charleston or elsewhere. We ate at Hometeam BBQ and Publico in "Five Points", both food places were good with a bunch of TV's. A majority of their bars were closed day of game until 5pm

Williams-Brice Stadium:
  • Far from the campus, our Uber picked us up from our hotel downtown and dropped us off right next to the stadium (15-20 minute car ride)
  • Gamecock Village seemed to be their not as nice version of Aggie Park.
  • Concession lines are LONG and take FOREVER
  • Restroom lines are also LONG and take FOREVER
  • Felt like I missed 1/4 of the game waiting in line to get food/drinks with how long the lines took
  • Visitor Sections - downstairs sections 17-18 mid-lower rows (band sits in bottom of 17)
  • You enter from the bottom of your section and walk up to your row
  • Presentation and experience of the stadium was cool, would've been better with an Aggie win (obviously)
  • Aggie players enter the stadium 2.5 hrs before kickoff underneath the scoreboard entrance of the stadium

**Uber pickup after game**
Walk to the Public Storage after the game and have Uber's pickup there for quick and easy pickup. See address below:
1305 Rosewood Dr

Columbia, SC 29201
United States

Bars/Nightlife
  • Five points is their ugly want to be version of Northgate
  • Everybody raved about Jake's Bar but again was closed until 5pm on game day. Gave me "The Backyard" vibes.
  • Very far from the stadium, don't recommend going after a game.
  • There's a bar some people talked about being popular that's close to the stadium called "TLC sportsbarsc" but didn't go

Final thoughts:
  • Eat/Drink before you go to the game, because the lines for everything are long and slow
  • Stay in Charleston
  • Walk to the Public Storage after the game and have Uber's pickup there for quick and easy pickup.
  • Would recommend seeing a night game there at some point, but the functionality of the stadium is the worst I've experienced so far.
  • If I ever go again I'd stay in Charleston all 3 nights and drive back after the game, Columbia was nothing special.

Thanks for the info.

How were the fans? They have a reputation supposedly of being akin to tceh tards. What was your experience (especially after such an ugly horrible game).

I went. Fans weren't bad to us. No ugly remarks. But my wife and I both noticed that they weren't as welcoming as fans from other places we've been. To me, nothing is close enough to the stadium like Northgate. We ate at a sports bar before the game that was still 15 minutes from the stadium. Traffic was bad until you got on Bluff Rd and then it moved along okay. I've been once now. No need to go back.

Son is a BQ who traveled with the band. He said the fans around them were awful.

Don't waste your time on Five Points unless you're younger than 25. It's worse than Northgate. The bars on Gervais st. And Main st. Are significantly nicer and geared toward a crowd that doesnt just booze up on natty lights. The only thing that doesn't leave you feeling terrible afterwards in Five Points is Saludas.

We stayed in Charleston and had a great 3 days there. Drove in for the game and arrived around 330ish. Did not experience long lines for the bathroom, probably just timing as I didn't attempt to use during halftime. Only bought beers which was slow at the beginning of the game due to connectivity issues with their payment system. Was resolved by 2nd quarter. You did have to scan your ID for every beer purchase. Exit was extremely quick in our area. Used contraflow on Bluff and got folks to highway very quickly.

(I've felt for a long time that's how George Bush and 2818 should be managed for post game traffic)

As most places, there's good and bad apples. The guy next to us was an absolute you know what, but the guys in front of us were nice. People were yelling at us as we were leaving, but it also seemed like the game of the decade for them so I'm not surprised, feel like I would've gotten that almost anywhere given the circumstances.

I'd recommend going to see a night game at least once, but on the visitor sides the concession stands and restroom lines ALWAYS had a wait, especially the women's RR- so just be prepared to wait during anytime throughout the game. Don't even waste your time going out there during halftime.
