1st quarter, dude taunts the USC sideline after a bad pass for 5+ seconds.
4th quarter, he loses the game for us by getting burned multiple times on the last drive.
The celebration issue needs some work this offseason.

It was funny to me just because it was so excessive. I'd like to see that Elko puts a cap on the celebrations. You can celebrate when you score a TD, get an INT, have a pass/run/reception more than 50 yards etc. Stop the celebrations pretending to have a sword or that you have a concealed gun after a bad incomplete pass

I was at the Florida game and sat behind our bench. I got a really good glimpse into the players and coaches behavior and attitudes. It one of the reasons I posted in the game thread that this team is the "mouthiest" team I have watched in some time. The talking back and forth is one thing, the making plays is another. This is especially true with this below average defense.

York did the same thing multiple times during the Florida game with the double birds.

The excessiveness of the talk versus letting their actual play do the talking for them cost this team penalties, not being lined up timely, it causes a sequence of negative actions.

The really good teams realize that great individual plays isn't the goal. Celebration comes after winning it all. Our guys celebrate and taunt way too much for being mid.

Yes, the stupid celebrations on defense are embarrassing. We're lucky we didn't get a flag for that tweety bird crap. That was excessive taunting. Of course the defense that does this is the same defense getting burned. Undisciplined.

This team had issues with penalties all year. There wasn't serious character flaws like 2022 (the weed, arm-sleeves, etc), but we got penalized way too much. That and the celebration need some serious work. I'm surprised it was this bad under Elko.

i really thought it would be different. i guess Elko is as scared of the players as every other coach.

And rich Ags will continue putting their money in because it makes them feel important. F em all...

the fix is VERY EASY to accomplish. but the desire and will to implement it is not. You mouth off- you sit- for a quarter. Do it again. a half. Do it again, a game. Again. and you're off the team.

Scared coaches is what it boils down to.

Elko talks a lot about culture, but actual winning cultures treat football like a business. Making plays is the expectation. No need to celebrate because i do this all the time.

I look forward to reading, after the Elko era is over about how he was a 9 to 5er, completely hands off, never around, never demanded accountability from staff or players.

Just like Sumlin when Fisher was hired, and Fisher when Elko was hired. The new guy though.......

They are pretending to put on a seatbelt, I think, but either way... needs to stop.

An uncalled for celebration needs to result in the player getting pulled for a series at least. Same for committing stupid penalties. That crap will stop.

Sadly yes. I don't know what to think about it, but it doesn't fit with what Elko is telling us about the culture...

No changein culture so far. Players play for themselves. Elko says he has brought team values back to program. Bull***** If that was true he would have benched ricks after that celebrating bull***** If he had we would have been better off. Ricks has played awful this year. He is a quarterback *****

We've had several iterations of "it's going to be different around here".

Each coach talks. Doesn't produce. They get paid millions tho. So they always win either way.

I saw eight of the 12 high school football championship games at Jerryworld this year. (A few former cadets , CT and BQ, from my class sat together -- great fun.)

Anyway, one thing that struck me was the absence of look-at-me celebrations, or, in fact, celebrations of almost any kind. After a big run, catch, sack or a tackle, players got up and went back to the huddle. After a touchdown, they handed the ball to the official.

I really liked that.

Cyrus Gray did it in 2010 but luckily was awarded a TD.

That clown show act by ricks was truly embarrassing.
How the coaches and especially Elko can allow this to happen without any disciplinary action is beyond me.

Ricks should have been flagged for that and should have had his ass chewed by Elko for it. It's also just stupid to unnecessarily taunt the other team and stir up emotions. He got what he deserved for the rest of the game. I'm so sick of the selfishness and lack of discipline from our players.
