That was a very Kevin Sumlin/Jimbo Fisher type of season in Year 1 for Mike Elko.

Start hot, fade away. The Aggies went 3-10 ATS.

Texas A&M has now lost at least 4 games in a season in 24 of the last 26 years.

Since 2014 FBS State of Texas teams…
Baylor: 4 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship
TCU: 4 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship
SMU: 3 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship
Houston: 2 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship
Texas: 3 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship
UTSA: 2 10 win seasons, has won a conference championship

Teams who don't have 10 win seasons and conference titles
Ags
TxTech
Rice
North Texas
Texas State
UTEP

These are facts and should be sobering to all. No matter what we've done, we've accomplished very little for the amount of investment put in.

Well in fairness these are Jimbo's recruits
Their is hardly any talent

I think elko has a better eye for talent than Jimbo and I think it will get better by year 3

As for his coaching staff….. it's all this program can afford right now

I wouldn't look to deep into this bowl game
We were playing with nothing but backups…. Including the QB
This was more of a practice / scrimmage

Elko may have a better eye for talent but how did he get LESS production from Scourton than Purdue? The days of a coach starting with nothing, recruiting high school talent, and taking time to develop those players is over. Elko IMMEDIATELY had access to an experienced and talented roster(tied with Oregon for 5th most talented in the country per 247) and got nothing out of it. Meanwhile every other roster with A&M's talent is still in the playoff.

Oregon has way more NFL talent than we do. A lot of the blue chip players that we wanted went to other schools so we consistently settled for second or third choice players by our evaluations. The few guys on our team who can play in the NFL opted out of the bowl game or were injured.

I don't understand why some people here think this roster is just loaded with NFL talent cause it isn't right now.

Lol Baylol, tcu, smu, Houston, tu, and utsa played in very soft conferences. This isn't a great comparison. Yes, I get the point of it and it's sad, but let's not compare our seasons. Big 12 from 2014 until about 2021 was just awful. UTSA, smu, and Houston weren't even in power conferences.

This program and its fanbase can make more excuses than the entire population inside the Texas prison system.
Personally, I don't want to hear anymore...either live up to expectations, or STFU!!! Otherwise, the program is nothing more than a nation wide joke. The truth hurts!!!!!!!!!!!

Scourton is a bad example. He literally stopped trying after he solidified his NFL draft status. That's on him, not Elko.

Nothing personal but I hate this perspective. "We're bad in a SOLID conference guys. That counts for something!" I would rather win the ACC or Big 12 than have a season like this one, 100 times out of 100. Maybe I'm in the minority idk.

TCU beat Michigan in a playoff game and went to the actual National Championship game. When is the last time we did anything approaching that?

Every single year under Jimbo and Sumlin.

Here is A&M's SOS every year since joining the SEC

2012 - 11
2013 - 32
2014 - 15
2015 - 27
2016 - 38
2017 - 39
2018 - 14
2019 - 25
2020 - 12
2021 - 52
2022 - 25
2023 - 24
2024 - 6

That is not a typo. Florida is actually a really good team that had a brutal schedule (#3). Auburn is actually a team with a solid defense and an explosive offense that had a lot of inopportune turnovers. South Carolina was one garbage yellow flag from making the playoffs. Missouri, Florida, and LSU are a top 20 teams per FPI and top 25 per Sagarin. ND and Texas are playoff teams. Even USC is a top 20 FPI team.

A&M finished FPI at 16 and Sagarin at 19.

Class of 94 and it's finally starting to sink in that we just aren't that good. For years I've always felt like we've had some very unlucky things happen to us but all teams do. Last 10 years we are nowhere close to the elite teams in putting out NFL talent. Just glad I was in school during our golden era.

I do? I'm a fan, and I enjoy Aggie Football?

Fair weather fans, or people that just hop on the bandwagon when it's really going aren't worth squat - which is putting it nicely.

When the team has a turnaround, and wins a Natty, or has a great season there are several people I won't be talking to when I'm celebrating with my friends who stuck by the team through it all. Those people can (insert derogatory statement here), they don't deserve to take part in the celebration.

Ok man. No Bama, no Georgia, no Ole Miss, no Tennessee. Down LSU at home. But if the data says it was our hardest schedule in the history of the program, so be it. But it sure didn't feel like it.
