Yeah, the yell leaders are pretty gay looking. They used to not be. The two yell leaders in my outfit my fish and butt year were Army contract fighters. I'm a bit confused as to why they march in in their yell boy outfits during march in also. That was not a thing in my day.

Btw is it just me or is Kyle field uncomfortably hot now?

It has to be the worst venue for watching college football. Just one more fail by the university.

I swear, we could hire Nick Saban, have Bill Belichick, Tom Landry and Bear Bryant our staff and still only win 7 games.

We need cheerleaders and let them lead the yells. The milkmen yell leaders and any idiotic stories with 'Rock' are traditions that can die. And please get a mutt as a mascot instead of a collie. Class of '82.

Could have sworn old army swayed in unison one direction back in my day, we didn't do the Horns down as that is from OU, and the TAMC yell used to be drawn out and long.

And we used to have Yells and no "cool
Zones" for students that should be able to handle temps near 100!

These yell leaders would have died in the Raycom days of the 1PM games every week in September.

Back in 2021 I took my son to yell practice here in Columbia, MO. It was the first yell I'd been to since 1996. It was goofy/silly/irritating, but with the same old yells and songs mixed in. I stilled liked the yells and songs.

That night convinced me that it's time to move on from yell leaders.

Regarding the football thugs and Sully, that was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I love being an Aggie. I identify as an Aggie, but after that incident it was clear to me that the values I was taught as a cadet in the early 80's are no long taught at TAMU.

The university is a shell of what it once was. You youngsters don't know what it was like back in the 80's.
You bought your date a mum for every home game as every home game is a homecoming. Girls dressed up for games. The band played loud throughout the game. It is different in a very negative way now. TAMU is now the University of Texas in College Station. That makes this old Ag very sad.

I'm no Sharp fan. But, if you're unhappy with the expanded enrollment, don't blame Sharp. Blame the Texas Legislators who forced the top 10% rule on A&M, while allowing tu to only be required to accept top 6% (recently changed to top 5%). Call your state representative and share your disapproval.

Hell half of the jocks model TD celebrations after dragonball z now

Not sure if you are aware, but the least "cool" it ever was to be an Aggie was probably in the '60's and 70's. That was before my time, but my sense from the folks I know is they liked it that way and sure didn't ***** and moan about people making fun of them.

I want my yell leaders to be super manly and super hot. Not effeminate and ugly, I'm not into that at all.

I had classes with him when he was mascot corporal.

The selection process for yell leaders has changed. Now the "Five for Yell" selects male cadets who will be good representatives for donors, alumni groups and the media. Yell leaders used to be "red ass", which is a term you don't hear very much these days. Yes, in the old days, yell leaders would do stuff that caused heart burn for the University but the yell leaders could get the stadium to get loud. Now the last thing the University wants are "red ass" yell leaders.

I blame the selection process the corps uses to select its candidates. It reminds me of how the frats do rush and basically pick the people to succeed them. Once you get the wrong person into that, it's hard to remove that kind of influence or stop it from spreading.

I mean, stuff changes, but I can't imagine the yell leaders of the 80's and 90's doing the tra la la video, much less posting it. I CAN see a bunch of frat guys doing it though.

The Gayening started around 2007ish. Fish Camp, Class Councils, Yell Leaders. It was a gradual gay takeover. More flamboyantness. New first gen Aggies that didn't know anything before getting to campus, all the traditions done with a gay mocking tone as if people were embarrassed. Yell leaders posted a video mocking Gunther, and his Tra La La video on YouTube when it was new. Then came all the neon. I'm drunk

Im Class of '70, I remember how Yell Leaders were. They led yells, controlled the crowd and told grody fables (GET GRODY!!!!!) at MIDNIGHT YELL PRACTICE, not yell or midnight yell. They didn't hop, skip or some kind of hump, arm slap while telling their lame stories. I feel like this is all in vain, nothing will change, it will just remain woke!
