I've seen the rumor on X (Twitter) that he's gone and Premium has a thread say Bateman to VT smoke.

This would be consistent with what I said after the bowl game. There's no upside to publicly firing an assistant coach. You let them know that they should find another job somewhere, and look for the upgrade…

Our defense wasn't the problem. The defense scored a TD and almost another vs the sips. Our Offense was terrible for long stretches.

Context? When Elko was hired 33 players were transferring, he had no coaching staff, and he had 10 mins until signing day. The Bad News Aggies! He put a Transfer Portal Team together and he's been upgrading ever since. Obviously he's not afraid to rip a bandaid off. I think he's on the right path to building a successful football program. Time will tell!

Our defense wasn't good vs tu either...they ran all over us and didn't have to pass that much as easy running and clock consumption.

The INT was more of a bad QB/tu play that thankfully we took advantage of.

Feels like Bateman was a better bad choice dealt to him at the time. So is Hemphill the guy he wanted all along? I'm no defensive expert but if it is, this seems like it could be another questionable evaluation by Elko. Hemphill is unproven- at this level

If Bateman is gone we will not have a LB coach. So I dont think Hemphill was 100% brought in to replace Bateman.
