Looking back on the season and leading into it I loved Elko's mentality of actions and not talk. His rant after the LSU game really seemed to be a moment of weakness breaking away from that. Started to feel pretty big in his pants (no pun intended). The whole this is a real program, not just going to talk fast, etc really reverted back to talking ourselves up instead of focusing on the glaring weak spots of that game. Having to then backtrack the next presser about his comments not being about Jimbo and it all seemed to fall off a cliff after that. Entirely coincidental as a possibility but pretty glaring in hindsight. It would be unfair to not mention also it was unrelated but the timing of Moss's injury being nearly the same time did not help.
I can admit at that moment I already had wins vs SC and Auburn as locks in my head and I think we had a lot of players and probably some staff thinking similarly.
Hoping hindsight on that moment and words is a lesson learned moving forward for Elko and company.
