The history of the most popular shoe and athletic apparel brand going back to 1981:

Nike
Adidas
Nike
Adidas
New Balance
Adidas
Nike
Sketchers
Adidas
Nike
Adidas
Champion
Nike
Adidas

Seems foolish to try to follow the trend. (and I totally made that up, but seems legit to me)

you left of kangaroos. those were bad ass.

Adidas has Pat Mahomes and Travis Hunter. Two of the biggest names in football. Adidas is a great brand and has plenty of young people that love it. 15 years ago Adidas was second rate but today they are top tier.

Nike is a $100bn company.

Phil Knight is not going to look at the numbers and say, "Oh look, our sales are down because those damn Fightin' Texas Aggies are not buying NIke merchandise. I don't think I can afford to give more money to Oregon athletics."

Yeah….. A&M needs to dump them.
Because Nike definitely doesn't do the same stuff

And what do kids see on TV close-ups after Mahomes does his magic? Yup, three Nike swooshes on his jersey. Hunter? He'll be a decent super skinny CB on an anonymous team like the Jags. Non-factor after his team is 2-12 and he gets burnt and tossed around by the likes of Chase, Nacua, and Jefferson. The Deion association will rub off fast.

Adidas does make quality stuff, but the problem is they will NEVER get the chance to outfit the NFL, NBA, or MLB. I don't see them contracting with any Blue Bloods in CFB either (Ohio St, Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma,
USC, Texas, Penn St,) Notre Dame and Tennessee dumped Adidas after a few years. And so should TAMU. Soccer is the Adidas domain and justly so.

I saw a few players post on X a picture of Reggie McNeal playing for the Aggies, saying we should go back to Nike. I'm glad we're with Adidas, F Nike, but if the players start to want Nike, should the athletic dept. reconsider? I know it was just a few players, but I'm curious if a lot of the team feels this way but doesn't want to rock the boat.

Show me a player that worries about what brand of equipment we have and I'll show you a player that isn't going to maximize his potential on the field.

While true, sponsorships are lucrative. And there is no reason for Arch to turn his down just because his team couldn't win an NC…

We are not going back to Nike anytime soon. I believe we just signed a new agreement with Adidas making us one of their flagship programs and they pay out is very good, which is very important with our financial issues. Adidas makes really good gear and their uniforms are usually pretty sharp across the board for most programs. I know Nike schools have complained the past few years about the lack of creativity coming from Nike in terms of alternate uniforms.

True, and the top caste at Adidas receive special treatment.

About 1/3 of FBS is signed with Adidas.

Here is a link from "uni-watch" with a DM from an Adidas developer stating that A&M and UW were in the Top 6.

In other words: Texas A&M, Washington, and four other schools are part of Adidas's tippy-top caste and get the best treatment, which is why we've seen the Aggies and Huskies in the newest template. Meanwhile, Indiana, Rutgers, and five other schools are part of the next caste.

Everyone likes to post that list of the tier 1 adidas teams like it's some badge of honor, but look at the names. For the most part it's the kids table of college football. Not a group you want to be associated with.

Has an Adidas sponsored college team ever won a championship in the big 3? Honestly I cant recall or think of one.
Off the top of my head: Kansas basketball a few times, Miss State baseball, Nebraska football in the 90s.

If you don't believe that college athletes prefer Nike, just ask them. The top athletic programs in the NCAA are Nike schools. The athletes are happier and the schools sell more merchandise. That's also a big step in drawing in
T-shirt fans. Money and prestige are a great combination. At the last school I worked- we changed over to Nike. It was a big deal for all involved and we were just a 6A HS in west Texas. Teenagers and many of their parents don't give a damn about past politics - they just want cool stuff.

At least he's got the balls to stand up for what he believes is right while you continue to blindly purchase products without knowing the companies wokeness.

First off, "wokeness" in a world of transnational corporations is a load of malarky.

Second, did you see Addisas' "I'm Possible," advertisement, linked above?

Both Nike and Adidas utilize sweatshops and child labor to make product. Almost every single piece of clothing we wear, technology device we use, entertainment product we consume, pharmaceutical product, etc. was created or worked on in ways that are unethical, wrong, or sometimes even flat-out evil.

Acting as if you stand on some moral high ground because you boycott Nike over a moronic protest while supporting Adidas is laughable. If someone actually wants to take a stand against every company that disagrees with their beliefs or operates in an immoral way, they would likely be walking around naked, only eating food they farm themselves, and without any sort of modern technology.
