Yes, 4/5 star players sometimes transfer. That doesn't mean they "don't mean ****". It means you have to pick them up in the portal too. We're not doing that either.

It would be interesting to see our average recruiting ranking juxtaposed against our average year end ranking in the polls. Seems like we rarely finish outside the top 10-15 in recruiting since we joined the SEC, and we rarely finish within the top 10-15 in the polls. But just guessing.

I don't know if it is true or not, but it sure seems like there are a lot more flame outs from the 4 and 5 star ranks than there used to be. Hell, just look at our 2022 class. Not only did most transfer out of A&M but a large majority of those are out of football entirely now. And this seems to be going on a lot at other places as well.

I guess what I'm getting at is that there really isn't all that huge of a 4/5 star transfer market available to choose from because so many of them are such head cases.

The flame out 5 star QB's are on the rise it seems. There are so many factors that come into play. That's why Saban was so good. He got them, coached them and kept them. The key to the stars lies with the coach.

Jalen Hurts doesn't count since he was a 4 star.

The obvious retort is that he wasn't good enough or replaced by someone who could help the team more, which would be the motive for most QB transfers so hardly unique. Saban was also helped for the majority of his career by transfer rules meant to shackle talent to the schools which no longer apply.

Texas, Georgia and Bama smoked us. Auburn and Florida did a little better than us. Let's face it. We're middle of the pack SEC. The good news is that we should just enjoy college football without the expectation and corresponding disappointment of winning anything significant.

That's one way to spin it, which is not at all surprising coming from the board's chief sunshine pumper. You must be glad we didn't have Texas' #1 class. Better to be deep than top heavy.

Not spinning. Posted a fact

Also when looking at composite average on 247 the gap between us (#9) and tu (#1) was 29.99.

Here's where we'd rank in previous years with that same gap

2024 #6
2023 #4
2022 #4
2021 #3
2020 #7

Our average of 91.88 would rank 5th in the SEC but we are closer to LSU at #4 than we are Auburn at #6.

Our class this year was very good across the board at every position group. Character, athleticism, speed and top quality linemen will separate this class from our past classes.

The classes really aren't as far apart as you want them to be. We have 17 top 300 players and they have 18. We have 4 guys outside the top 500. They have 5.

Their OL class is trash and our's is great.

If you want to only look at star averages tu has a better class for sure but I'd have to look at who they got at each position to say which class I'd rather have.

Heard on the radio this morning that since 2020 (not counting the 2024 class), 44% of 4 and 5 star recruits left the school they initially signed with. And that number is going up.

It's like grading an NFL team on how many 1st round picks they have on their team. It simply doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if the guys you have can play and play together well enough to win.
This is the problem. These kids (and parents) don't appreciate what the star rating means. At the end of the day its based on potential. They still have to work, grow into the college game as players and physically, and they have to have the right attitude. It doesn't ensure you are successful. These ratings and social media visibility go to their heads, and when they are made to work/perform and not treated as stars, they feel under appreciated and pull up anchor. I think the social media attention and exposure is the worst thing for them.

As for tu's class it isnt as deep as ours but they are much better at the top.

I'd take our OT, IOL, QB, CB, and LB over their's.

They definitely have a better S, DL, WR, and EDGE class than us.

Two industry composite 5 stars on On3. Since they have us at 2 and the obviously crappy 247 industry composite only gives us 1 the only possible conclusion is On3 rankings are twice as good at 247.

The gaps this year are a lot closer than most years in the past. Generally there is a huge difference betwen the top and the rest but not so much this year.

As usual you are correct, I had to look that up.
Normally #1-#10 ranges from 325 to 275 points, this year it's 310 to 280 pts...

I was going to ask if you gave them the nod because they bought Terry away from Georgia. I have no idea who else they got so…

Terry is a big reason and if it wasn't for him I'd say they are very close to equal.

Not sure where you come up with this stuff.

Top 3 sip CBs are higher ranked than any Ag CB.
Sip QB is higher ranked.
Sip LBs are higher ranked.

The only case you have is OT. Lamont was critical to this class.
But stop fooling yourself- on paper it isn't really that close.
They got the number one class. Bought and paid for, per reports, but that's the name of the game in 2025. It happens.
Or maybe you know more than the recruiting sites.

Sips have 3 CB and we have 4 but their 3rd is trash while all 4 of ours are 90 or better. They basically have 2 great recruits and 1 trash while we have 1 great and 3 very good.

LB is a little closer but both of us have 2 with tu averaging 92.7 while we average 91.9. I give us the nod because our guys actual national ranking average is better (127 & 395 vs 68 & 489). Again we have 2 guys that are considered strong impact guys while they have 1 strong impact guy and 1 with potential.

Lamont was critical I agree but even without him we had 3 while they had 2 and our 3 still average better than their 2. Our second best is closely ranked to their best and our 4th best is better than their 2nd.

You're not counting Michael Terry, their five star "athlete" from San Antonio who I wish Elko had sent a duffel bag of oil $ to. He is going to play CB in college.

Our coach publicly admitted Texas "physically annihilated" us when we played them and they came a play or two from going to the title game two years in a row, yet we still have guys like Vanderpumper telling us they're not sure they'd take Texas' #1 rated class over ours.

Because from what I read he's projected as an offensive player and that's how tu was recruiting him.

5-7
6-4
8-5

And we just got out-recruited by 5 SEC teams. See a pattern?
