Trev Alberts wasnt brought in to overhaul coaching and the culture. He was brought in to overhaul the money, put A&M in a driver's seat position in regards to NIL and the future of college sports. He is doing all of those things really well. Alberts has a goal of being a power player in the industry and he is doing just that while repositioning A&M by being on committees as opposed to previous ADs that did whatever tu said or were so aloof they were iced out of everything.

The next AD will inherit an athletic department that is much better financially positioned to make any big hires it needs to while attracting top tier talent and if needed overhaul the culture behind the scenes. If coaches are losing then he will fire them if possible, it is pretty cut and dry especially in the big 3. He is a professional he isnt going to be like Bjork and ramble on with his foot in his mouth. I question some of y'alls professional experience in corporate America if you think Trev isnt doing his job well.

Thank you for eloquently making the point I was trying to communicate. We have to accept what his job actually is. And like you said, he's doing his job quite well. We all want his job to be winning titles/on field success but that ain't what he's here to do right now. Accept it and move on. And to your point, the next guy will be primed for success with the right hires. We just got a road to get there.

Here's the thing with the AD here. He's like the commissioner of a big major league. He's there to make money, get better deals, and do the bidding of the big money Ags. The BMAs pick the coaches--that's not even debatable here anymore for any revenue sport. BMAs at almost every major school call the shots. Sark was basically hired by a Tyler Big Cigar for tu. DeBoer was a Big Cigar hire out of Alabama who wants to look like he's got enough sway to keep Bama at the top of the food chain. Some schools have big donors who know their roles and know when to interfere and when to stay the eff out. Look at A&M and at Auburn--neither of these two places ever come together over a hire. Auburn's literally try to get the coach of the other faction(s) fired just to get control of the next hire.

Alberts is really no different than Bjork, Woodward, or Bill Byrne. They know they need to make money, get better revenue deals in place, and then try winning championships in sports that they do make hires in that can make the BMAs happy. Amazingly, that works around here. Why? I'll never know. That Jimbo Fisher extension/buyout was the single dumbest set of decisions ever made at an Athletic Department. The extension was beyond dumb, but the buyout was even worse, considering how much it was and how little use those buyout dollars are for anyone outside of Jimbo Fisher and his next several generations to follow.

Would you say that the DFW vs Houston rivalry plays a significant role in the failure of Aggie sports?

I think so. I think there's more to it but at surface level that rivalry plays a part

Our last two looked at the market and decided there was a better opportunity somewhere else. Probably worth considering why and examining that. On the other hand I'm not even sure what the AD does so maybe it doesn't matter.

I think that's part of it, but there's so much that causes factions to form and split, geography is probably a small part, no doubt

30? We haven't won shat in nearly 100.

We were a small all-male military college for a long time, and still suffering the effects of that in athletics until the 1980s. Anything before about 1980 isn't really relevant.
Ok. We haven't won shat in 45 years. Does that make you feel better about our ineptitude?

Many now guessing Earley will be let go behind the scenes (even OB reading between the lines and K Rogers has already said he thinks he'll be replaced).

We shall see how it all unwinds but gives everyone some summer entertainment (guess we had it last yr we going to CWS, losing last game and schloss dongle head snook cemetery drama).

We have never been serious contenders for championships. Why would that suddenly start now?
This is what worries me. We go to school there and get brainwashed into being rah-rah Aggies. We graduate and the rah-rah lasts for about 25 years of futility. By the time we say "wtf….something has to change", there's 25 years of rah-rahs in the pipeline saying "we only ran out of time bus driver; we'll get 'em next year; hump it Ags". Then you turn around and we've sucked for 100 years.

I have been part of that now for almost 50 years.

Rinse and repeat.

I simply have learned to expect the absolute worse when things start to look exciting and that we appear to be fielding a superior team.

I've seen this on Texags a few times. What does being serious about winning look like? I've asked a couple times and never got an answer, but it's always in reference to firing more people typically within a year or two of hiring them.

It's been a hell of a lot longer than that! I personally know for the last 70 years!!!!! You're correct nothing is new. tu hires AD's with direction that have a back bone and get things done. A&M hires those that cannot stand up straight, speak with authority, good ol' boys that are figure heads. I asked this question previously, WHO HIRES THESE WEAK AD'S???!!!

Trev Albert's is just the symptom and not the problem. The problem is the dip****(s) who hired him. Those are the people that need to be fired.

Unfortunately, those same dip****s are the ones writing the big checks, so we're probably stuck with the ****show because the decision makers are dumber than dirt.
