They really don't have an unusual amount of health issues compared to other breeds of similar size on average. I've been working with the breed for 25 years. We have 6 of them at home right now.

The comment was regarding quantity, not quality.

Friend of ours has a high dollar horse that they use for Dressage competitions. Horse stuck a wire in one eye and TAMU Equine vets removed it and put in a prosthetic eye. Unless you pay close attention you don't even notice it. It's permanent and doesn't come out.
Can they do the same for dogs if need be?

Should've give Miss Rev a puff puff from the players maryjuwanna daily and let her keep her eye.

Any report regarding the "suspicious tissue" that was initially described as the reason for removing Rev's eye?

Hate to be the one to break it to you but a Great Pyrenees would not be considered "smart" by any classic definition and are laughably less smart than basically any random dog in the herding class. Also, big dogs generally have very common health conditions related to their size.

But I do love Revellie as is now, we just need consistent good natured Revs. Seems like there's always some quirk like snapping or biting and not being approachable.

Howdy, Ags! I wanted to provide an update on our First Lady, Miss Reveille X. I'm happy to report that the pathology report from her recent surgery has been reviewed by our extraordinary veterinary care team, who have confirmed the tissue is benign the best possible result for our beloved Miss Rev.

She has been recovering remarkably well. Her stitches have been removed, and she has resumed her eat, play, rule-the-world schedule. In all seriousness, we are blessed to have such an incredible team surrounding Miss Rev, and I am thankful for Mascot Corporal Wilson Winchester '28 and the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for their skilled expertise and continued care. We will continue to keep her well-being at the forefront as she resumes her duties this fall, but in the meantime, squirrels, consider this your notice: the queen is back!

Rev might need to be retired soon, dogs can get jumpy and lash out at people that approach from their blind spot after losing an eye. It's a risk with how many interactions Rev goes through with people/kids every day.

There's usually that training period in between. I'm all for X continuing her reign, but it would be cool to see IX come out of retirement to fill the gap if need be.

The best veterinary school in the country should do an eye transplant !
