What do you mean "give the man a chance"? We did, and he literally went 8-4 last year. If he does better than 8-4 this year, people will stop talking about 8-4. But, until then, it's deserved.

Then we do what we always do and lose an inexplicable head scratcher to someone we shouldn't. My guess is South Carolina or Arkansas.
Neither Elko or this team has earned any benefit of the doubt until they stop doing the things virtually every A&M team the past 20 years has done to wallow in mediocrity

Our starting DBs last year couldn't stay close to their own shadows, but this year they understand the scheme and all of a sudden have the talent to stay with the SEC WRs.
Our punter... wait a sec, we are punter U, our punter will probably be good..
And last... Our coach can now put together a game plan, adapt as needed, and motivate the players not to quit the way most of our talent last year quit.
You understand all of these observations need to come true for us to be decent. Not one or two... to be a good team all of these problems need to have solutions.

Elko also had us at 5-0 in the sec for the first time ever before Moss went down. Injuries are a part of the game but we lost arguably the best back in the sec. We probably win the SC game, def the Auburn game and more than likely would not have had issues on 4th and short against the donghorns. We absolutely would be in the SEC championship in his first year. Now we need more depth, but moss getting hurt really put a damper on everything.
Losing RB1 and RB2, and needing to change QBs makes for a bad season. Amazing we did as well as we did.
In Aggieland all things are possible! Did you forget that?

No. 8-4 does not suck. It is perfectly mediocre

well considering we were the second best team in the sec in 2020 but Florida got to go because they were in the east kinda puts this bs to bed. In today's set up we would have been in it in 2020

What exactly did Manziel accomplish that Flutie didn't? He never won a championship in any form, both won Heisman's, both won bowl games, both were undersized, both were great all around athletes. Manziel had an absolutely LOADED team and won the Alabama game with a hail mary that his great receiver pulled down. We would have lost had Evans not made that circus catch. Flutie beat Notre Dame with a hail mary that his great receiver (although not nearly as great) pulled down.
I think if you want to call someone the greatest ever at a position, you should pick a player that won it all.
