Fair... the point still stands

in tbis very particular instance i love this bye week. the notre dame victory is like the most perfect game to have won right before the bye. we have so many things to clean up. we had 13 penalties, turnovers, lost containment on defense, had a punt blocked etc etc etc. and we won the game.


as a coach you can be happy with the effort and fortitude of your team and still push them hard after winning such a big game because we were so messy.

Exactly. I'm guessing this game is circled on the calendar along with South Carolina and of course tu. Revenge tour, first one checked off the list.

Irony is that Elko told Hstn crowd to essentially quit living w BAS (just be excited and talk about all the good stuff/excitement happening), but he totally missed the point where he didn't help much last year after USCe and Aub games (the proverbial Nov swan song after touting look at us at top of SEC podium talk even though we hadn't really played anyone yet). Then followed by looking putrid vs. a more undermanned USC team in a bowl game.

Very excited for the team and will root them on for good things (1 game at a time), but Elko needs to win something for 'real' IMO (can we at least win the SEC for once).

Super happy we beat ND, but a 1 point and many areas to improve upon (esp. giving up 300 yards of passing). Yes, hopefully it gets us over the hump (as we won the game regardless vs. historical moral victories of "we played them well or close"), but only time will tell if we truly have a culture shift or does it shift back to look at "us ranked ... we must be great". Do it for a whole season...and not just for a game and the culture will shift everywhere.

Great timing for the bye…

Have a feeling Elko will have them locked in.

I am grateful we have a bye week to recover from an emotional road win at Auburn. We will be well-rested while Auburn will be coming off a tough road game at Oklahoma.

There is a chance of a hangover, but I doubt it. By the way Elko sounded after the game, he let the team know that there's still work to be done. This team is coming together, I don't see them losing track of what is at stake.

Losing focus can happen after any big win. We need time to heal and game plan. It's a time to look over what our weaknesses are and correct it. No matter what it is.


If a bye week is done with a good coach in a good culture you will get better. Not worse.

Not at all, actually. They were coming off a huge loss and fighting for their CFP lives.

Perfect weekend for a bye. Non stop work travel so want to stay in town, and have an annual 2-day golf tourney starting today.

Can we move our bye week(s) to the end of the season? L's always follow.

If Elko can get a W after a bye week, maybe he's the one.
