I'll take the job. I'm as conservative as can be which can't be said about the last couple of bozo's we've had.

Meh he does fit with the vision of all-Aggie leadership. But the key Q is whether he'll fight tooth & nail for it in his staffing decisions.

First, what does politician Rick Perry know about running a University? Is he any good at surrounding himself with good educators?
And my second question - which Rick Perry would we get? Look at his track record as a politician - Democrat to Republican, Liberal to Conservative, back to Liberal and back to Conservative. Budget spender to budget conservative and back, espouses death penalty but commutes sentences, on and on. Then there's the Ukraine Scandal - would he just hire his political buddies while being President of A&M?

Personally, I would hire Jimbo Fisher. He's already on the payroll, so A&M could spend the money they save on something more important, like football.
Look into his psychedelic Mexico drug trip and reconsider how that would play to the A&M faithful.

From what I can tell the last two weren't political enough so that might be a job requirement these days.

A&M is a state school and relies on a lot of government funding in order to maintain our abilities and reputation. A politician would be a logical pick for someone who has to work with the government to keep the money coming in. Rick Perry has done one thing especially well in his career, and that is to stay in the majority. He's not going to lead a crusade. But he is going to keep us out of the cross hairs. Plus, at this point in his life, this isn't a decade long commitment.
