Bet your farm your brother's farm your sister's farm and your kids future farm on State. Way too many points, and we don't really know how to handle success yet as a program.

The last couple of times times state has played at kyle theyve gotten absolutely destroyed. And they just got out of an absolute heavy weight fight this weekend

Believing this line would require our fans to believe our team might actually be good which is hard for a lot of people.

That said if I was betting I'd probably take state and the points.

If we only practice all week on how to stop the penalties we could win by 3 scores !

We are 4-0 and yet 50% of the fans are *****ing and moaning. Some people enjoy living in negativity and fear. I am with Elko....we should celebrate this team and effort. They are going places so quit freaking tearing down this team and coaches.

That's a big line. I wouldn't touch it on either side. If offense plays 4 quarters and defense does an Auburn then that's an easy cover. But we have yet to see a game like that. If we can stop with the penalties, our offense looks entirely different. So much to be happy about.
we have been 4-0 before and imploded repeatedly in October and November. I'm enjoying the wins but also know this is the beginning not the end…

And who were our first 4 teams in 2016?

Also, Tennessee ended up being severely overrated

If I take State plus 12 1/2, the A&M offense that played Norte Dame and the A&M defense that played Auburn will both show up in Kyle Field Saturday.

The current line is actually 14.5 points. It seems a bit too high even for a night home game against a Mississippi State team that has lost 13 consecutive SEC games and 16 of their last 17 SEC games because they have looked much more competitive than the past 2 years. Before Mississippi State's 41-34 home overtime loss to Tennessee, they had lost 12 consecutive SEC games by 10+ points each in the past 2 years. Hopefully, we dominate Mississippi State from start to finish.

How are we feeling about this one? Aggies are 12.5 point favorites right now which seems a bit high. Miss St. is 4-1 and just suffered their first loss to Tennessee in overtime 41-34.

No. No. No.

Go watch what they did to UT.
Nope. Way to high.

Surprised as all of you are the spread is that high, it is their first road game to a power 4 school so I'm guessing that has something to do with that, also I'm unfamiliar with their injuries/depth chart could be there is something going on there.

Using statistical predictive models like Kelly Ford:

https://kfordratings.com/power

Miss State would be considered our second most easiest remaining game versus P5 teams. Only @Arkansas easier and would be the only game that I'd expect to maybe be favored by more points if we were instead playing that game this Saturday..

Mizzou with #27 offense and #37 defense. Overall #39.

Auburn with #48 offense and #14 defense. Overall #23.

Notre Dame with #3 offense and #44 defense. Overall #4.

A&M with #23 offense and #25 defense. Overall #15.

-

These sort of models get better as more games get played with more stats as input but can be interesting to look at even early.

I watched the Miss State/UT game. MSU is dangerous offensively. Its offense will nickel and dime you all over the place with the goal of frustrating an overly-aggressive defense and simply "moving the chains." This plan worked great against UT. I'm sure Elko is paying attention. Take the 12.5.

MSU is more competitive this year but their 13 SEC-game winless streak ain't ending at Kyle field Saturday night. 31-17 good guys.

If we beat Miss State to get to 5-0 then the 8-4 season expectation is going to get pretty dicey and I am going to start being nervous this team may actually get to 9 wins or more.

And a big reason for that is we played no one with a pulse for the first 4-5 games of the season in 2016, then got hit in the mouth when we played someone decent

That's different this year with the ND away win, an Auburn team that id put on a similar level as what that Tennessee team in 2016 ended up being, and a UTSA team that is saltier than any of the cupcakes played in 2016.

We destroyed Mississippi State 51-10 the last time we played them at Kyle Field, but they beat us 26-22 in the previous time game at Kyle Field in 2021. We are 4-2 in home games against Mississippi State, and all 4 wins were by 10+ points.

2013: 51-41 win
2015: 30-17 win
2017: 35-14 loss
2019: 49-30 win
2021: 26-22 loss
2023: 51-10 win

#16 UCLA
PVAM
Auburn
#17 Arkansas

We were also 5-0 to open 2014 and 2015 with wins over ranked teams. That didn't translate to later in the season though.

We've seen this before, with early wins in close games against teams we thought were good. Yeah Tennessee was overrated in hindsight, but ND and Auburn could be too. This team has done well, but the hardest games on our schedule are yet to come.

We may have played two ranked (at the time) teams. But UCLA finished 4-8 and Arky finished 7-6 and unranked. Auburn ended up the best that year at 8-5.

I think ND has a very good chance to run the table and go 10-2 because they look a lot better than anyone left on their schedule. Auburn is an 8-4 team at best (especially after getting jobbed at OU) so I don't really see how they are that "overrated". They will win all four of their OOC games and most likely go either 4-4 or 3-5 in the SEC unless discontent sets in and they collapse.
