Wrecking Crew!

Our defense has smothered our last two SEC opponents.

Auburn: 177 total yards (125 passing and 52 rushing) and 10 points allowed with their only touchdown coming off of an interception return to our 2-yard line, and 0/13 on third downs

Mississippi State: 219 total yards (142 passing and 77 rushing) and 9 points allowed with their only touchdown coming with 1:20 left, and 1/10 on third downs

Get back with us when they do enough smothering over the entire season and are ranked at, or near the top, in several defensive categories. The Wrecking Crew would finish in the top 10 in several defensive categories.

AGREE! There was only one Wrecking Crew, this defense isn't it!

After the Sack Trick and only allowing 1 for 24 on 3rd down. Not to mention allowing 10 (seven of these were not on the defense) and 9 points the last 2 weeks give the Kids something. Them hearing Wrecking Crew echoing down from 107,000 would give them something before they play on the road the rest of the season. Also DJ Lagway is from Texas and chose Florida over us let him hear the mistake he made.

It's a shame we don't use the Wrecking Crew moniker more. I grew up watching the wrecking crew shut down classic run-heavy offenses and it was amazing! We have had a number of defenses over the years, playing against modern offenses and rule changes favoring offenses, that totally deserve the wrecking crew chant when they have a solid performance. Truth is, our top wrecking crew defense from way back when would give up just as many points on average as we do today, yet still worth calling Wrecking Crew!!!!

Prior to this game our defense is allowing 15 / 68 on 3rd downs….which is only 22% for opponents…..

And right now we're allowing Florida 1/10 on 3rd downs….
