4-0 conf record built on teams that are 2-12 in conf if I counted correctly.

I realize the ND win was a great win, but that stat quoted keeps my expectations in check.

Also, our defense has allowed 40+ points in each of our road games, and 3 of our last 4 conference games are on the road against teams with a combined 6-4 conference record. I don't think it takes BAS to see that we can easily lose a game or two down the stretch.

"Can" and "ceiling" are two separate things. I agree we "can" lose one or two but also think we can go 12-0.

Dad has gone from "we suck and will always suck" to "we're the greatest thing in football" so that he can say "I told you we suck" if we lose a game. Ignore the troll.

Warren Nolan has updated our predictive games to 11-1 with the sole loss at DKR.

They had us at 9-3 with losses to Mizz and LSU prior to this week. I think if we actually beat LSU, the texas prediction may change.

The LSU and Missouri games are massive. Win one of those, and I think the program has made a big step in the right direction.

(And ATM has to beat Texas, it's just a mental thing for the Aggies and can help negate a lot of last year)

I thought the goal to winning a game is to score more points than the other team. The two road games you reference have scored a ton of points against everyone, one game where Arky gave up on their coach withstanding. That said, the defense can give up points, but what have you seen from the offense that leads you to believe they can't beat anyone? Stop the run, great, Ags will just throw 4 tds. Drop in zone to stop the pass, great, Ags will run for 200+ and 4tds. There is a lot for this team to work on but still continue to win in any type of game. Have a drink, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Next week is the true litmus test on whether this program has turned the corner. I truly think its one of the most important games in a&m football history and could be a launching pad for this season

LSU will be the jewel, but if I think they beat either LSU or Missouri, win the rest of the games they should win (including a weak Texas), then that counts as a big step for the program. And an incredible regular season

I mean I hate tu as much as anyone but thinking that will be an easy win or tu is weak is crazy. I mean we struggled with Arkansas. tu has a very good defense and our defense has not been good on the road. And I wouldn't be surprised if Arch has his best game against us.

I agree.

Texas is weak, that is just true. All the more important for ATM to take them seriously and win. It's an important mental game. More so than a loss to Auburn or something would be.

Long ways away, but A&M/TU game could be reverse of last year. They need to win to get into playoff, us to cap off a nearly perfect reg season.

I rather them be 8-3 or 7-5 coming into that game.

One could argue that, outside of Notre Dame, that we "haven't played any good teams" yet - and thus they might doscount our undefeated season thus far....

I think a win on the road in Red Stick this coming weekend would be considered by many doubters as our first "quality" SEC victory.

BTHO LSU!!!

If they played like they did yesterday they will be at best that. Going to UGA and Vandy will be tough.

The Arkansas team that played last night would chew tu up and spit them out. Arch's best game, you mean the one against SH? Vandy will be pimping Arch out after that home game.

Nope.
When you lose matters. See Bama. No one cares that they dropped the first game of the season to FSU.
If we lose to Mizzou and tu we will not be in the playoffs.

I'm hopeful we go 12-0 or 11-1, and I think either of those are a distinct possibility. I just think our toughest tests are ahead, and some of our weaknesses on defense could easily lead to an L if our offense isn't hitting on all cylinders on any given night. Boise St., NC State and USC all held ND to fewer points than we did, and every P4 school (and Memphis) held Arky to fewer points than we did - so I don't think it's too controversial to say our defense has some things to clean up. I'm not pessimistic on our chances, I'm just being realistic.

Elko is doing great and I love this team but record wise we are very close to where we were last year at this point. With the main difference being we lost to ND. If we lose to LSU on the road we are almost in the exact same spot but we have both Mizzou and horn on the road.

Past teams would have lost to notre dame and Arkansas and be 5-2 at best

Then we'd lose at lsu and at mizzou plus at tu to finish 7-5

The thing about 7-0 is that it's awesome and we ought to enjoy it. It's a rare gift and it may be just the beginning.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

I am expecting a floor of 9-3 (5-3 SEC) and a ceiling of 11-1 (7-1 SEC). Hopefully we can win at least 1 of 3 road games against LSU, Missouri, and Texas.

Seriously? It's impossible for us to win these last five? That's ceiling. At 7-0, ceiling can't be anything other than 12-0.

I would love for us to go 12-0, but we are bound to lose at least 1 of 3 tough road games at LSU, Missouri, and Texas. The tough road stretch of 3 consecutive road games in 4 weeks is making that goal even harder. That's why I think our ceiling is 11-1.

Actually i think its actually doable, the 3 in 4 weeks.

Lsu isnt the power they were. With our pass rush, Nuss is going to struggle.

Then we have a bye, then we deal with a good QB, not as good as ND or Ark, but definitely more mobile than Nuss or Manning.

If the bye was after Arkansas and we played LSU/Mizz back to back, I would lessen our chances for the sweep. But getting an extra week to recalibrate to Mizz is more advantageous, imho.

At this point, Im not worried about texas, at all. Everyone has been holding their breath hoping Arch doesnt develop by thanksgiving and it doesnt look like thats happening. (Tbf, I think their problem is actually their OL.) And now they get into the meat of their schedule, opponents have their tape, they know the limitations of this Texas offense.

Ffs Kentucky shut em down and their defense is world-class :eyeroll:

No, we aren't "bound to lose" any game, or 1 of any 3 games.

We might lose 1,2, or all three, or any game. But we aren't "bound" to.

Just win this weekend and it all but guarantees 10-2, real shot at 11-1 and outside chance at 12-0.

Not that we can put anything on cruise control, but a win in BR makes this thing real.

This is correct! A lot of folks here are all in but after the Ark game, I am much more reserved after the defensive issues we had. I get it. Arky plays us tough but we should have handled that game like we did until 2 minutes left in the first half. We let them back in the game not once but twice in 2 minutes. They were fighting till the final whistle where we were not.

We have a solid team but we will have to play offense and defense at the same time to continue to win. I am optimistic but very cautious.
