Carefully worded offset language should prevent something like that, but if it just says something like "if coach takes another job, the buyout amountwillshall be reduced by ..." The vast majority of contracts written contain fairly simple language -- or, at least, they don't provide many provisions that cover things that aren't foreseen or anticipated.
