I wonder if the Arch situation has anything to do with this. The tu fanbase is already calling for Sark to give up play calling. Does Sark have the authority to bench Manning or recruit another starter for next year in order to improve the offense? If not, might be why he wants out of there.

Honestly I can't fault him. College football has become NFL lite with eligibility limits and no contractual obligations.

Never underestimate the power of ego, by coaches or by NFL owners. If Strunk thinks she knows what's best and that Sark is a good fit, then she'll green-light an offer. If Sark thinks he's wasted at this level because of the inherent limits (NIL but no union or owners group to set real rules; no trades; etc) then he'll go.
It would create great angst throughout the universe, sure. Texas could money-whip a lot of people, but whom would they really want? Who's actually available? All things considered, they are positioned to make a run at Cignetti if it should come to it. They MIGHT make a run at Clark Lea (Vandy) if he gets a playoff win under his belt, but there the question would be how much of that is him and how much of that is Baby Boy Diego?

Shouldn't e hard to find an elite CFB coach? I'd say the current job openings show that it's not easy.
