This thread reminds me of all the names of potential coaches suggested here when we were seeking to replace Jimbo. I must say, right now there are no coaches I would pick over Elko. We could be in for a fun ride now.

He has a contract that runs thru 2030 that pays him $7,000,000 a year plus very lucrative incentives.
He had an 'ok' year 1 and year 2 speaks for itself, but why renegotiate now?
I hope he's the most successful coach ever, but FINISH is right.
He's getting extended plus a raise in the $11million plus range with most of it guaranteed if he makes the playoffs and would likely be done before Christmas.
That's the LUCRATIVE part of the current agreement.
Before they sweeten the pot on the base, he should have to do it more than one season.

NO!!! He is already getting paid really well to do his job, and he is just doing his job. He has great incentives in his contract. I wouldn't even give him a raise at 12-0, win hardware and then we can talk.

Let's just do it now, he's earned it

I'm really happy how this year is going. But we've been down this road many times. No big raises till we get a trophy.
If we lose him, that's too bad. But I'm tired of being a college coaches retirement fund.

We should not let him walk over money. If that means we need to make commitment now, so be it.
He'll get 10.5m EXTRA if he takes this team all the way. The negotiations for "commitment" took place when we hired him.
are you paying it?MSCAg said:

I agree. Like it or not, we need to make a commitment now to quiet some of the noise around all the job openings.

Certainly appears more real than anything we saw under Sumlin or Fisher. The swagger of this team harkens all the way back to the late Sherrill / early Slocum teams. Mostly on defense back then, This team is more well rounded. Would hate to lose Elko just as it's getting started.
