How long do you want to ignore this user?
Pay him $1 and let PSU pay for their coaching for the next few years

Would love it because most likely LSU would not beat A&M one time during his tenure.

I'm getting a bad feeling he will actually beat us from time to time if he becomes the LSU head coach.

Jimblo would be flipping through too many of his laminated cards to try and outsmart Elko/ Bateman defense schemes.

Or just get a pretend Franklin from the Key & Peele guy that looks like him, or perhaps Corey Booker.

Franklin would be Kelly 2.0 at LSU

They should have just made a trade. Kelly to PSU and Franklin to LSU.

I don't know, I think Franklin is still a good coach who massively underperformed for a few games. I think Penn State overreacted.

I think Penn State forgot what it felt like to be irrelevant and got a little quick being done with Franklin.

The 9 years prior to Franklin, Penn State had a higher winning % (.719) than what Franklin achieved (.698). And that includes some years after the scandal where some top players transferred out.

And the 50 years prior to Franklin, I believe Penn State's win % is .734.

So Acting like Franklin brought them to relevance is ridiculous.

Man, we laugh now, but I promise you, if LSU does hire Jimbo, that dude will circle our game and treat it as his superbowl just like how he treated the Bama games back when he was here.

Jimbo will have that one PERFECT highly-detailed play to counter Elko. He would just have to look through his Cheesecake Factory menu and tell his QB to run it.

And it would result in a delay of game or a TO.

Franklin would be a worse fit at LSU than Kelly was. Franklin is no-nonsense with no appetite for the stupidity of the LSU fan base. Kelly probably wasn't either, but could mask it for the money. Franklin, as we saw on Game Day, is far more vocal than Kelly.

Why did you stop at 9 years? Franklin was at Penn State for 10 full years and a third of this year.

Going back 11 years prior to Franklin, they won 89 and lost 48, for a winning % of .650.

From 2000-2013, 14 seasons, Penn State won 11 games (no more than that) 3 times. They also had 4 sub-.500 seasons. From 2014 to 2024, 11 seasons, Penn State won 11 or more games 5 times. 2020 was his only losing season (4-5) and that is ignored for him and everyone else. The poster's point about irrelevance may be overstated, but asserting Franklin didn't improve the program fairly significantly is just incorrect. 3-4 good years over a decade and a third pales to being a program that would produce double digit win totals just about each year.
