I guess my experience was not normal. Every single LSU fan I interacted with was welcoming and gracious. The worst behaviour I saw was a twenty something Aggie sitting 5 rows in front of us in an LSU section that taunted the fans the whole 2nd half. It was embarrasing. The cops came and escorted him out, but I guess had a stern talk with him and let him come back. He acted somewhat better after that. I was prepared for the worst, but saw a lot of hospitality from our hosts.

Tailgating was great! Very hospitable and we got free food everywhere we went. Most of their fans didn't expect to win and that may have added to their pre-game temperament.

It all changed the closer we got to kickoff. My kid in the band said they got flipped off and things were being thrown at their bus as they arrived at LSU's campus. Once off the bus, there was a group of 20 or so LSU fans/students yelling and screaming some of the most profane things at the Aggie Band. It was ridiculous and the law enforcement guys just stood there and let it happen. To their credit, the kids in the Aggie Band just smiled and laughed and never engaged them.

Had some pretty vocal fans sitting behind us. Their tirades were more directed towards their coach and QB. We only had a few folks try to mess with us...nothing too bad. They would yell something and then just walk off like the cowards they are. Most just ignored us.

There was an LSU fan directly behind me that tried to get a rise out of me every single time something happened in the first half.

Once the safety happened, he moved his hands directly next to my face and was clapping.

I ignored him through all of his attempts but was mentally preparing for him to escalate farther.

Then after he loudly boo'd our band taking the field during the half, he tapped on my shoulder and asked me "What even is an Aggie?"

I gave him a very straightforward and polite answer. Seemed to disarm him. We had a really nice conversation after that and he even noted how great of an academic institution A&M is.

After KC's punt return, I turned to him and quietly did a golf clap in his face. Told him it was for earlier. Made him laugh.


Other than him, other fans around me had genuine questions about some of the things A&M did and asked out of curiosity and I was happy to give them real answers.

You say "low grade white trash".....

Yeah, well it may hurt some feelings, but FWIW, Louisiana is the 7th most inbred state in the US
