TL;DL

Woodward
-Great man and AD
-Loves LSU
-Screwed up with Kelly, but Baseball and WBB coach hires were nails.

Landry
-Has an axe to grind with Woodward
-Systematically cleaning house at LSU (legal counsel, president, AD)
-Hypocritical for complaining about Kelly's buyout, but then eating Woodward's $6.5mm
-Handled the situation without "tact"

Good old boy network
-Says Landry already has next President hand picked
-Gives a list of 5 Louisiana natives that could be next AD

Commentary
-Says it's been the most disfunctional week of LSU sports he has covered. (Surpassing Les Miles fiascos)

When he gets to the very end he actually makes the case of good replacements at LSU for President, AD, and next Head Coach.

This has them all embarrassed and so they strike out any and everything.
It's deja vu' all over again....

ChatGPT summary…I'll assume it is accurate because im not watching the video:

Here's a summary of the video titled "LSU FIRES Scott Woodward! Jeff Landry WAR Explodes Program in CHAOS!":

Key Points
1. The video reports that Louisiana State University (LSU) has removed Scott Woodward from his role as Athletic Director amid mounting criticism of his leadership.
2. A major driver is the involvement of Jeff Landry, the Governor of Louisiana, who publicly declared that Woodward will not be responsible for selecting LSU's next football coach.
3. A key context: the firing of head coach Brian Kelly less than four years into his tenure, following a disappointing season (5-3 start, major loss to Texas A&M Aggies) and the looming large buy-out of his contract.
4. Governor Landry cited concerns about costly contract buy-outs and a "pattern" of failures under Woodward's hiring decisions (for example at both LSU and Woodward's prior institution).
5. The result: major shake-up in LSU athletics Woodward is out, the governor intervenes, and the next coach hiring process will be handled differently (via a committee).

Implications
This signals significant political oversight of LSU's athletics department, indicating that state governance (via the governor) is inserting itself into what is traditionally an athletic administration decision.
It raises questions about contract management in big-time college athletics, especially the fiscal risks associated with hiring high-cost coaches and the responsibility of athletic directors.
For LSU, it implies an organizational reboot: new leadership, likely new processes for hiring coaches, and an expectation of stricter performance metrics and accountability.
The phrase "Program in CHAOS" used in the video title reflects both the internal turmoil (leadership changes) and external pressure (public/political scrutiny) facing LSU's athletic department.

Governors getting involved in university personnel issues. Where have we seen that before? Oh wait…

More likely just the opposite. Unlike most places, the coffers of LSU are the same as the state coffers. When the donors to one entity scream, the ears of the politicians bleed. As I've stated prior, Woodward was very well thought of in the sports world and each of his previous stops. He only left here because of this exact kind of political grandstanding by one of our own, taking a pay cut to go to his alma mater. that's why Björk authored the ludicrous guaranteed extension, under fear that Woodward would be vindictive and try to pull Jimbo out from under us. This LSU based commentary is worth the listen.

MM is an LSU shockjock and he is mad at the Governor responding to the dumpsterfire at the flagship university of the state. The governor is directly responsible for the performance of STATE schools. Ffs education budgets are the #1 or #2 largest item of EVERY states' budget.

When there is a lack of President who overseas the AD, sht rolled uphill to those in charge.

Coonasses need to understand heirarchy and reality.

YouTube's summary

This video discusses the firing of Scott Woodward as LSU's athletic director (0:01). The host attributes this decision to a feud between Woodward and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (1:35). The video details the governor's alleged "coup" (1:40) to force Woodward out, despite Woodward's successful tenure, which included hiring national championship-winning coaches like Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey, and significantly increasing fundraising (7:55-8:59).

The video highlights the governor's perceived overreach of power (5:43) and his vindictive actions (5:54), particularly his disdain for Woodward's political affiliation (11:49) and Woodward's refusal to rehire former basketball coach Will Wade (13:11-14:01). The host argues that the governor's actions are hypocritical, especially regarding the $6.5 million buyout for Woodward's contract, given Landry's previous complaints about Brian Kelly's buyout (9:32-9:58).

The video concludes by discussing the potential negative impact on LSU athletics (19:07) and lists five potential candidates to replace Scott Woodward as athletic director (20:19-26:12):
Verge Ausberry (22:46): LSU associate AD and current interim AD.
J.R. Teague (23:54): Athletic Director at Southeastern Louisiana.
Heath Troyer (24:30): Athletic Director at McNeese State.
Josh Brooks (25:10): Athletic Director at the University of Georgia, with strong LSU ties.
Michael Alford (25:54): Athletic Director at Florida State, also with deep Louisiana ties.

What's the gist? It seems like all of these LSU homers are just mad that there might actually be some accountability for the absurd athletic spending of a state university in a state that has been bordering on bankruptcy for years.
lol. It's about doing all this in public rather than not scaring off potential coaches. Thought that was common sense.

Yes, and according to the comments on OP's video, it sounds like Matt gave a softball interview to the governor and then Matt only said every critical counterpoint and fact-check after the governor was gone in OP's video. Lol

A governor who's probably never coached, hired, played, or did much athletically is running your program what could possibly go wrong with that?

Politicians should be supporting not running athletic programs.

Right, not sure the governor is smart enough to realize there is very little to be gained and a whole lot of downside wrt political capital.

Not to mention that he makea clear the Mickey mouse organization that is the state of Louisiana

I thought it was a little disingenuous that he abstained Scott Woodward from being the one responsible for Jimbo's buyout and put it all on Bjork. Bjork technically gave Jimbo the extension but the original contract was $75M/10 years guaranteed…we still would've owed Jimbo $30M to buy him out if we fired him in year 6 without extending him.

He seemingly tries to take all fault off of Woodward I guess because he likes him, but Woodward was the reason we got Jimbo in the first place.

Otherwise the video is a pretty good look under the hood of the LSU program. Thanks OP.

Simply to provide context, because I share your frustration regarding the buyout… $7.5 million a year with some level of buyout was/is right in the wheelhouse of the top coaching echelon and not an outlandish offer. The re-up of the extension and 100% guaranteed buyout paid through 2031 is what wipes out our patience.
