I think we are the most complete team in the SEC. We have an undefeated 5-0 SEC record and the highest point differential of +72 points in SEC play, 26 points higher than Alabama. Yes, Alabama has an undefeated 5-0 SEC record with wins over 6-1 (4-1 SEC) Georgia, 7-1 (3-1 SEC) Vanderbilt, 6-2 (2-2 SEC) Missouri, and 6-2 (2-2 SEC) Tennessee, but they also have a 31-17 road loss to 3-4 (0-4 ACC) Florida State who has lost has lost 11 of 12 ACC games since the beginning of 2024. In contrast, we have a 41-40 road win over a Notre Dame team that has won 5 consecutive games since we played them.
Also, Alabama trailed South Carolina 22-14 with 10:00 left before escaping with a 29-22 road win, and South Carolina was coming off an embarrassing 26-7 home loss to Oklahoma. In contrast, we scored 35 unanswered points against LSU in the 2nd half before cruising to a 49-25 road win. Also, LSU is a tougher road opponent than South Carolina. Therefore, we had a much more impressive win at LSU than Alabama did at South Carolina.
Hopefully, we beat Missouri next Saturday. If we win that road game, we should enter Austin with an 11-0 (7-0 SEC) record. It would be sweet to beat Texas in Austin to cap off an undefeated 12-0 (8-0 SEC) regular season and secure our first-ever SEC Championship Game appearance. It would be even sweeter to follow that up with a win over Alabama in the SEC Championship Game to become a 13-0 SEC Champion and get the No. 1 seed.
